Genetically Engineered Salmon
Grows all year long
Quote: In the case of the salmon, AquaBounty has added a growth hormone from a Chinook salmon that allows the fish to produce their growth hormone all year long. The engineers were able to keep the hormone active by using another gene from an eel-like fish called an ocean pout that acts like an on switch for the hormone. hmmmmm  |
frankie, we found a cure for ur illness. some day soon you be able to ride the superman rollercoaster at six flags :soon:

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com this METHOD can also be used to fight diseases in Striped Bass due to agricultural run off of fertilizers or pesticides down in the rivers feeding into Chesapeake bay. |
I work in the seafood business for one of the big salmon distributors in Boston.
I don't think anyone will touch this with a 10 ft pole. We'll wait and see who has the balls to sell this fish. |
As long as the media portrays any genetically modified foods as "Franken-" there is no chance in hell of acceptance by the general public.
They have been feeding cattle (and other animals) high doses of growth hormones in their foods to stimulate growth for decades, this salmon gene modification turns on the naturally occurring salmon growth hormone gene constitutively and thus growth occurs year round. Personally, I'd rather have the later..... People have to understand genetic modifications have occurred since time began, the natural way was slow and desirable features appeared by random chance or over long periods of time by selective breeding. Man-made designed genetic modifications is bound to happen and become commonplace if man is to survive on this planet. Similar things are going to revolutionize medicine when methods are developed to cure genetic diseases, are these going to be Franken-people? Just remember the protest over IVF, now a commonplace occurrence and no one thinks twice about dish sex ("Franken-sex"). |

except for Buffalo also known as Bison meat or Venison all meat has eaten genetically altered grain ....
farmers have even fed chickens arsenic to make them lay more eggs |
No thanks. Do your research and buy non-GMO foods and foods without unnecessary growth hormones. We have no way of knowing what the long term consequences will be from screwing with our food sources like this. It's only a matter of time before they genetically modify something that really screws us up.
It's crap like this that's behind girls looking nothing like they did when I was their age... and that wasn't all too long ago. |
ha ha ha ha
oh ya noticed -lol
well until you BUY a FARM , buy a cow, and milk it every morning at 4 am your up against a world wide milk industry that has more money than you do so welcome to the new world :jump1: they're the ones adding the growth hormone to it.... these scientists are just borrowing genes from a more productive fish and sticking them in there.... to produce bigger (better?) fish with no hormonal injections in more of a natural way... do you eat HOT DOGS? :rotf2: |

Haven't had a hot dog in over 8 years. |

Adding a gene to an animal does not change the food content in any measurable way. You eat it, it gets digested into fat, carbos and proteins, which your body then breaks down further into fatty acids, amino acids, and sugars. Regardless of the source it all ends up the same. A genetically engineered fish is made of the same stuff as a natural fish, and when you eat it it ends up exactly the same. There is no "extra" additives, the gene they add is DNA just like all the fish's other genes and gets digested just the same. |

When you genetically alter food, you have no way of knowing what affect it will have on you because any affect will be gradual and cumulative over many years.
Kind of like wondering why there is an incerease in the number of cases of certain types of cancer, childhood ailments that used to be rare are now some of the most common "diseases" being treated. Remember when childhood diabetes and autism were rarely ever seen or diagnosed? Now it's almost as common as a diaper rash! We are being fed "altered" foods with the glorious "FDA" approval sticker and we eat it thinking that there's no way that it could be bad for us. To coin a popular phrase: "The chickes have come home to roost!" Unfortunately it's not US who are paying the price, but rather our children, and then their children, and so on... What riles me most is that the research facilities claim to be working on cures for various diseases and ailments, but if they discover some penis pep pill that will make millions, well then cancer, ALS, AIDS or MS will have to wait because the world NEEDS a penis pill before everything else. (Remember that VIAGRA was discovered as the result of a side effect from a cancer treatment and see what happened?) I was watching the movie "SOYLENT GREEN" this past weekend, and it was funny how we seem to be heading down a similar path of social destruction. |

After all the scare headlines, early puberty in girls correlates best with early obesity. At the end of the articles and documentaries on this subject, they always mention this last, although it is the most obvious explanation and makes the best sense biologically. Take a walk around WalMart some time and you'll see what I'm talking about. Fat parents with fat pre-schoolers. It's un-natural, and it's causing trouble in many ways. |

altering PLOVER fertility
if SCIENTISTS can implant a GENE into a Salmon to make it
grow all year LONG then it can also genetically alter the plover to lay much larger clutches of Eggs or mentally prefer nest boxes as apposed to groundnests (with a wood duck Gene) and have them laying eggs 365 days a year until there is no friggan shortage of them to the point we are required to eat so many of them a year on bamboo shish kabob (sp) sticks... literally Someone needs to ask this question to pres.OBAMA at a town meeting.:devil2: |
