1 Attachment(s)
OK I need your help!!! I am looking for my lost MoJo and who ever helps me find it will win this "Prey" swimmer!!! Just post some words of encouragement to boost my spirits and you will be eligible!!! This will run until I have successfully cast these evil spirits and dark clouds from my psyche' by experiencing a decent outing be it catching numbers of fish or anything over 20 pounds will be considered "MoJo Recovery"!!!! So do that voodoo.....you do.....so well!!!:stir:

RIJIMMY 10-08-2010 10:06 AM

I believe in tough love, so my encouragement........ Get of your arse and fish hard. No one said this was easy! You want easy, get some worms and head to any pond for some sunfish.

fishbones 10-08-2010 10:08 AM

Larry, you will have to meet me at the canal in a secret location and I will perform an ancient ritual to rid you of the skunky demons and restore your MoJo to previously unimaginable levels.

By the way, are you heading back out today?

BigFish 10-08-2010 10:08 AM

You have no idea how many hours I have put in over the last month??? Got 1 dink bass and 1 snapper blue to show for it....they came this week though so maybe things are looking up??????:bc:

tysdad115 10-08-2010 10:13 AM

Larry- It's not your mojo, the fish are terrified when your around. They know when BigFish is throwin timber they run and hide. Dont take it personally, the fish are just chickensh*t. I hear they are so scared they have resorted to eating slimy eels, no worries it's not your fault.

Something I did a few years ago might work.

I was going through the same thing, couldn't buy a fish at the fish market for weeks.

Emptied the plug bag and put in a bunch of plugs I never had any luck with or had any confidence in. Went and fished a spot that I had been fishing pretty steady....but on a totally different tide.

Got a nice 16-18 pounder that night.

Sometimes you just got completely change up what you're doing.

JFigliuolo 10-08-2010 10:16 AM

Quit yer bitchin and be thankful that life lets you actually get out and fish.
Be thankful you and your's are healthy...

I was planning on going out last night (first in 4 weeks) and when I stop home my wife is so messed up from her illness she barely knows where she is. My night was spent like way to many have been, on the couch taking care of her.

I envy you and everyone else who has the luxury of getting bent out of shape that their season sucked. I wish my life was that simple.

I wish I appreciated things more when it was...

ecduzitgood 10-08-2010 10:16 AM

Chum and chunk

Get a flat of macs and start chumming using a hook bait slightly larger than the pieces of chum and no weight. I like plugging but sometimes bait is the best route to take.

JackK 10-08-2010 10:22 AM

I figure I should enter now, because you'll break the streak tonight!

Enter the Habs tourney. Fishing for a good cause exponentially increases mojo. And if you have zero mojo, it still adds some.

No bitchin' here? We are just having fun at my expense......at least I can poke fun at myself. I don't take it too serious because I know all too well how fortunate I am! I take nothing for granted!

agsurfr 10-08-2010 11:09 AM

Keep it simple--back to the basics--don't over think things. You know how to pick spots based on wind, tide and moon, and find fishy water. Have confidence in yourself. Have confidence in every cast.

The fish haven't changed.

Go out and do it.

Bigfish, this will take care of it. Bring some rum with you on the Yak next time out, poor some into the ocean as an offering to the fish and save the rest to celebrate (works every time). Don't forget, confidence is key. Every time I go out thinking, I HOPE I do well today turns out to be not so great a day. The days I know I will do well seem to produce. Mind over matter (plus a little rum) and that MoJo will be back!

The Iceman 6 10-08-2010 11:49 AM

Enjoy the journey!

BigFish 10-08-2010 11:55 AM

Funny you say that Iceman.....because that is my creedo......."The Journey Is The Reward"!:uhuh:

Luthier 10-08-2010 11:57 AM

Start thinking like Flap did and you'll find things will turn around. Worked for me last night.....3 bass and 2 blues...... and I was only at my spot for an hour (all I could squeeze out for time). Most fun I've had in a month.

Larry.. Over, Did you say the seasons over and the mojo is gone.

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
And also, go and catch one for the gipper.

hope this helps.
Jon

BigFish 10-08-2010 12:12 PM

Never said it was over......just feeling around on the ground for my MoJo like a lost contact lens!!!:rotf2:

PRBuzz 10-08-2010 12:33 PM

Question: In order to lose something doesn't that imply you had it to begin with?

Smear those nicely painted wood plugs with fish/eel extract! Then work hard fishing as you can't catch anything if your plugs are hanging on the wall or in the storage tubes.

Maybe a change of scenery will do you good. I say it's time for a road trip :kewl:.

Looking or his Mojo , will let you know when we see it.

JFig - as always, Godspeed.

zimmy 10-08-2010 02:10 PM

close your eyes... picture the fish taking the lure. Imagine the fight. See yourself landing the fish and unhooking it. Imagine yourself releasing it and watching it swim away. If you follow my instructions you will at least get your 20lber before the weekends over.

nightfighter 10-08-2010 02:28 PM

you are not alone....

YouTube - Martha's Vineyard Derby Blues

But you are welcome up my way. Doc and I had fish from the surf at dusk.....

If you are going to imagine a fish, why not imagine a 50?

Striper_Haven_03 10-08-2010 04:10 PM

Bigfish...never mind the words of encouragement...lets go fishing. Cant take you to my favorite spot but will take you to my second. Blind fold needed though.

In all seriousness.......Just relax and they will come. Sometimes when we put so much pressure on ourselves to catch that we forget about:

A) Spending quality time with friends fishing
B) Enjoying the outdoors (even at 3am its still nice)
C) That we have a stock of large stripers (for now anyway) to TRY to catch
D) That we have a choice to wake up and fish, unlike my good fishing partner and best friend who is spending the next year in the mountains of Afghanistan and would love to go out and to the shore and not catch anything, but just to be there.
E) That we have the physical and mental capacity to walk, cast and catch fish.

When I start to think my mo-jo is gone I just think of the things that we take for granted, enjoy them and take what comes to me. Think this way and before you know it the other end of you fishing line will yield what your looking for. I promise.
