Quck kid story - sign of the times
 

My wife and I got a good laugh out of this. My kids are 6 and 8. We went to a local nursery on Saturday to pick up some pumpkins. They were having a festival and there were a ton of classic cars on display, they were just pullling in and setting up. All kinds of amazing cars in fantastic shape, old mustangs, camaros, mgs, corvettes, etc. We were walking around looking at them and suddenly my daughter runs up to me all excited. "dad, dad, you have to see this come here!"
"WHat, what is it?" I ask. "This guy, he is turning this handle and its lowering the window on the car door!" I almost fell down from laughing. My kids have never seen anyone roll a window down before. They've grown up with just pressing a button.

that just made me feel really old.......................

i've been in some situations where i simply hated not having
a roll down window.... but that is funny. :grins:

Before they're all gone (and rusted away)

find an old door at a junk yard "buy it" and then put it in the
Garage.... so she can show all her friends the OLD days

its amazing that they'll grow up never - manually opening a garage door, getting up and changing a tv channel, turning a radio dial, rewinding a cassette, playing an album

I think you were at a certain nursery in North Attleboro....seen all the cars pulling in there.

Then they would laugh themselves silly in my 06' Silverado with manual crank windows!! I hate power anything....just one more thing that costs way too much to repair when it crokes!!!

Putting the pencil in the cassette to get the slack out of the tape.

We were talking about a situation like this on our trip home from VT Sunday. We stopped to take a picture and the memory card was full. Then somehow got on a tangent about how when we have kids, they'll never fully appreciate just snapping as many pictures as you can without worry, not having to pay $8 for film and decide "hmmm... free doubles or a free can of film".

I remember my first camera had the separate stick for the flash bulbs with the 8 bulbs on it.

All the old time fisherman probably said the same thing about us "young guys" with GPS, Radar, Braid line, etc, etc, etc. I guess it happens to every generation

On my way back to VT on sunday from RI between brattleboro and Rt 103 I was counting no VT license plates going the other way, average was 10 to one. And my first camera was a brownie.

...very true but ....

the technology fast track we're on will be creating new technologies
every year as apposed to every decade or half decade
and soon your kids will even be saying...

wish i had that when i was a kid :uhuh:

I remember when we got out first vcr. Imagine watching movies when you wanted! It was the most amazing concept. First video I rented was The Song remains the same.
Now I can download movies instantly, never mind all the random crap I can see on youtube.

When we got our first VCR, I would record the late night soft-core porn on Cinemax and then watch it the next night after everyone else was in bed. I had to hide the few tapes I had and keep copying over them because I was a kid and couldn't afford to buy a bunch of tapes.

Kids have it easy now with porn on the computer.

yeah, it sure beats the thrown away Hustlers we used to sort through the trash in the dump to find!
the smell of the garbage truck still brings up some fond memories :uhuh:
