wood purchase

Where can one find birch, oak and/or maple to buy for plug making?

I'd talk to Salty for some Birch and he had maple too. Nice stock, manageable sizes and good prices. Got some real nice birch last year from Scott. Downes and Reader is fantastic too. Try to get out of there without spending some $$$$, unlikely. p.

if your near a woodcraft, they have birch/maple dowels on sale right now 30 percent off. Thats where i get mine. If your just looking for 3/4" dowels then it's reasonable but the 1 1/4-1 1/2" dowels are like $6

I am a big fan of the Woodery in Lunenburg, MA... they usually have AYC in 2 and 4 foot lengths and a complete selection of maple, birch in several thicknesses.

here is a link to their website;

The Woodery Lumber Company, Lunenburg MA - domestic and imported hardwoods and softwoods, custom millwork.

Tell Steve I sent you...

Thanks Scott I'll be talking to you. After I get some honey-do stuff done and finish my yard work I will need some stuff for winter over wood turning.

Swimmer, I have used Scott' s birch and soft maple. Makes greats needles. The pre-drilled stuff is great. Would recommend it to everyone.
