We interrupt this blah blah...

OK, I keep meaning to do it (along with other things) but maybe THIS year we actually will.

How do we soon switch into winter mode? What topics do we discuss?

In the past we've planned to do a few things that haven't always gotten done, lets get them done this year:

• Plug of the week / month. Not a copy of OTWs L.O.T.M. and perhaps not a single lure like a Afterhours Spook but more like all spooks. More general like.
• Method / Style of the month. Focus on more specific style.
• Gear of the Week / Month. Not lure but other stuff; Rods / Reels, Bags, Cleats, lights, Electronics, etc. For example, that Wearbars thread was a HUGE help to me.

Any other topics for more formalized discussion?

Babe of the Week - Self Explanatory :hee:

Beer of the Week - One beer that everybody should go out and try then give their critique :gu:

Mixed Drink of the Week - Same format as Beer of the week :gu:

Movie of the week - A recommendation to watch and talk about.

what about DEAL of the WEEK

where people see gear on SALE (elsewhere)
that isn't necessarily from one of our sponsor's

instead of having to create a separate post for it

throw it in the deal of the week forum

(this is on merchandise not offered by our great sponsor's)

Seeing how many get the Winter Blues...how about a "Winter events /or cool places to go or see in your area". Things like winter festivals, food/beer &wine tastings, great parks for a snowshoe or that has a great view or event?

How about a picture contest every month, you can ask the sponsors to donate prizes or use them for the front page. Have a cell phone picture monthly contest and a digital camera monthly contest.

how's bout a creative writing contest for Fishy Tales?

doesn't have to be a battle verbatum, or it could be~~~

could be about something past, present, or future,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

could be entirely fictional, something completely outta tha BOX~~~

just needs to be ABOUT fishing or the expression of its meaning to the writer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

with ALL of the brilliant minds gathered HERE, this could be entertaining and help to relieve some of the
cabin feverishness that goes with our Winter Withdrawal Syndramadeaus

it could go from Dec15 to Jan15, everyone who enters antes up a plug, the submitted copy goes (anonymously?) before a panel of three judges, winner gets a plug from ALL who enter, to be exchanged at TCTFN 2011.

How about a section called "The Bear's Den" for all topics relating to man-caves?

Or a fishing related "What is it?" to see if we are as smart as we tell everyone we are.

I would also like an Ice fishing forum, since that's where I spend a great deal of my time during the winter. Heck, I could even contribute to the "deal of the week": Hand, foot and body warmers at Ocean State for little $$.

I don't think we need a lot more forums, we probably have enough. We can work on specific topics in the main forum with a the title, ie: "Ice Fishing: Auger recommendations..." blah, blah, "Man Cave: Show us your man cave"... and so forth.

We definitely should have some contests this winter. Sounds like a solid idea (almost wrote "soiled" :smash:)

We should also work - early - on the events. Plugfest, TFCTFN (Entertainment suggestions?), Reel Maintenance Party, Thinking a trip to "Club" hall may be in need.

Leadfest? hear that battered about. Rod building?? Tackle ?

We need a canal cruiser section, how to build, pimped out rides, the whole 9 yards. :)
