Trying hard to deciede on which rod to use for boat/ chunking/live line uses. Narrowed down to Lamiglas BL 7040C or Shimano Trevala Medium (not sure on model). Its being paired with an Avet LX 6.0. My past rod was the Ugly Stik 6'-6" 20 - 50 lb Boat Rod (Too Heavy) Looking for a nice "trigger" action but with a backbone to it. |
Maybe a little lighter than your specs but has some backbone. Seeker CLB706B is the blank. Not sure if you want to buy complete or build. That is a nice general purpose stick and good quality.
|
if you like the lami 7040c, i suggest a seeker clb 708. i did one up last year, acid wrap, great live lining rod. art

Would rather stick with either the Lami or Trevala since I have these in spinning.
Just not sure which Trevala?:wall: |
Trevela
If you must, Trevala regular series - Heavy -6'6" I suggest a non-butterfly jigging rod, though, especially if you 3-way eels. You need a faster action blank.
|
I have a Trevala 6'6 med action and would defiantly go with the heavy action for your intended use. Nice rod, but the med action is too soft IMO.

Being basically a cheap (*&&( I took RIRockhound's advice when I bought my first CC and bought 2 Penn Slammers 5' 6". I put Abu Big Game reels on them and use them for livelining Pogies. $50 each for the Rods at Bennys in RI. Still using them after 4 years and I have caught hundereds of fish up to 40#. Cannot be beat for the price.

you mean, 6'6" right? mach-1 blackfish rod for us too...
they don't make them like that anymore, they are graphite now. still slow action, but not the same... |
I've been using the St.Croix Musky rod (PM70MHF) with Avet MXL's for the past 5 seasons or so. I love the set up. Fairly light weight and can handle the brutes....Pretty versatile set up as well. Chunking, live lining and bump trolling. I also have a Trevalla XXH with a Avet LX that I use mostly for jigging. I found its a bit over kill for bassin. This fall we jigged tuna up to 63" on the LX set up.
