New virus or just newly discovered?
When an anti virus program discovers a virus in a program from say 2009 , do you think its a new virus program or someone just wrote a def that discovered it.
I just found a virus in Pure Network (don't even remember intalling Pure Network) that was installed in 2008 or 2009. Its an unlikely place for a new virus to park. I wonder if it wasn't there all along? Any ideas? |
Depends on the intent, some viruses like to park them self in programs like Pure Networks with timers. This allows them to activate certain protocalls. Do you happen to have the actual name ?

one thing you can do
is to look at the time stamp (properties) as to exactly "when" it was installed sometimes that can tell you ..... things installed at 3 am wasn't you for example |
I think it was a Trojan popuper? maybe a Exploit .Java.### type? Sorry , I forget exactly.
