New R.I. Wind Farm plan...
Not sure if this is in the Mainstrem news or not...
After scrapping plans for an offshore wind project in Rhode Island Sound, Deepwater Wind LLC has returned with plans for a much larger project in the sound that would more than double the power output from Cape Wind. New Jersey-based Deepwater Wind says the project, dubbed the Deepwater Wind Energy Center, would contain up to 200 wind turbines and would produce 1,000 megawatts of power — easily making it the largest in the nation if built. By comparison, Cape Wind, proposed for Nantucket Sound, would consist of 130 turbines that would generate 468 megawatts of electricity. my only question is can you fish near them? i don't know why people get upset about wind farms. get used to it, it is part of our future - all part of getting off oil. lots of new structure the fish wont mind

Yeah, if tyou can fish in the area, not so bad and I'm good with the renewable energy kick. I work for a Captial Equipment maker in the solar industry. It's paying the bills...

Price per kilowatt is cheaper than CapeWind. the dont have to pay Mr Cadillac a kickback

I'm all for it

They never 'Scrapped' the plan. this is just an expansion from the original 136 turbines to 196.
100% for it here. Can you say December Black Sea Bass fishing..... |
As long as you can still access the area, I'm for it. We're never going to totally replace middle east oil, but anything we can do to lower our dependence on it is a plus.

I also think we can eventually get away from M.E. oil though it doesn't make much difference if we go to another oil, someone else goes to buy the mid east oil. |
In the Gulf of Mexico some of the best fishing is around man made structures. If access is allowed then what's the issue? Although everyday when the when is cranking from the north I'm waiting for the one in Portsmouth to nail me.
