The kids are the ones who turned in their Dad.Poor form to criticize the dead,sad sums it up well enough.Now Bernie finds out he is ultimately responsible for his sons death while serving 150 years in a N.C. prison.There can't posibly be a harsher sentence.

Sad. I think the kids knew about the scam and the plan would be to turn the father in to deflect attention from the sons. I think they just arrested a few secretaries recently who made millions off the scam.

Raven,you looked for sympathy when your dog was injured.To say this makes you glad tells me you are a 1st class douchebag.This is a man who could no longer live with a heavy burden,which is unfortunate at the very least.To infer his father had it coming is close to satanic.If it had been Bernie,people might understand,but you do not punish family for anothers misdeeds.That's a gangland mentality and I thought you were above that.

Tragic. (Period) 2 very young children are without a Father. Sad indeed. As far as Bernie.......this is a great example of how ones actions affect many others. Take a lesson and live accordingly! Terrible story.

In the end they are all going to jail. Cowards will take the easy way out. Some of the ripped-off investors killed themselves as well. I feel for the children. Not much sympathy for any of the Maddoffs.

So what is the story, were Bernie's sons/family in on the scam ?
Certainly sounds like they knew about it and enjoyed a great life style from what I've ready about them.
Also read it was his brother who turned in dad.

Always sad to hear someone died and especially to hear that things pushed them to taking their own life. Suicide has been considred an honorable way to atone for your sins in many parts of the world who's societies are far older than ours. Cowardly? Maybe. Honnorable? maybe. I think it must depend on what was in his head when he did it, and that is something we will never know.
