Today's 33-megajoule shot sent the projectile speeding
out of the gun at Mach 8. :shocked:

the Navy can fire projectiles at least 110 nautical miles

as much kinetic energy as a 33-ton semi has
when it's traveling at 100 mph. holy mother of God

that's gonna hurt..... and leave a Mark :grins:

A lot of hurdles to overcome still but you can really reach out and touch someone with that. They've gone and trippled capacity of that in 10 something years, the goal is apparently 64MJ and operational on a ship in 15 years. That would be sick. 250 mile range and a backup ASAT capability.
