any ideas of whats in the surf?

i live in the southern ct area right on the beach and there are about 50 or so birds diving about 5 feet from the beach in rough surf...any ideas of what they might be after?

They are just playing. They want to start an internet rumor of a blitz. I dont fish down that way much but it may be herring.

Scoters and eiders. They eat crustaceans an splash around a lot.

Sea herring, decent Schoolie blitz in NPT on tuesday.

Could be schoolies if you are talking western sound. Herring are a possibility too.

zimmy 12-12-2010 09:17 PM

the sound is rumored to be infested with sea herring in numbers not seen in decades.

No worries - the pair trawlers will be down there shortly to take care of them.
