Hi Everyone,

I could use your help.

Right now I’m buried in footage shot over the 2010 saltwater fishing season and I’m crafting my show for East Bay Anglers and the American Sportfishing Association. The footage is high definition photos and videos shot with the fastest DSLR camera in the world. The clarity, vibrancy and control of depth of field will make my next show much more cinematic and entertaining.

I’m trying to weave a tapestry of underwater images into a revealing and intimate look at life in our bays and oceans with an emphasis on gaining a better understanding of game fish habits and habitat.

As always, I value outside input and would love to hear what you folks would like to see in a multi-media presentation on targeting trophy striped bass with a secondary look at ways to score more and larger fluke, tautog, sea bass and tuna.

I have received numerous requests to show a fish-eye view of different plugs underwater – I’ve got that covered. I’ve been asked to include a close up look at the various bait fish that stripers and other apex predators feed on – got that covered too.

Let me know what you would like to see and if I don’t have the footage in the can already, I’ll shoot to acquire it next year.

Here’s a picture I shot last weekend with John Haberek Jr. at Beavertail. This is the kind of imagery you can expect to see in my 2011 shows.

It is amazing the work you do with the camera.
Since you ask would it be possibly to capture footage of illegal fishing practices like trawler by catch, pogey boats, etc.

Rips
 

I want to see what 3-waying eels look like passing over tide swept rips in eastern long island sound. I want to see how the different species relate to the rips, do they sit hunkered down behind structure like we believe or are they moving around jockeying for position.

Ya beat me to it.

How about some underwater canal shots.

Striper behavior, especially in limited lighting conditions.

How about canal fog?

Thanks for asking for input Mike. :) Do you have any shots of how stripers set up around structure ?

The above and maybe even stripers hanging on the inside (during incoming) of ocean bottom humps (or outgoing side), say out off of Gay Head around the Lewis Shoals area watching them work bait sitting there.

Mike, You ever film how albies feed?

It would be interesting to see if it's possible to setup in an area they're in.

Thanks for all the good input. The anti-piracy footage is a work in progress. If you look very, very closely to the photo of Habs casting at the point, you can make out at least one huge trawler in the distant and it appears there might be another one set up as a pair trawl situation...very disturbing.

Bass holding on structure I have and will reveal at the East Bay Anglers show and beyond.

The one time I attempted to shoot footage in the canal I was escorted out the eastern mouth of the ditch by a coastguard cutter. Not an option for video or photos underwater.

I captured the albies in 2009 in great detail. I have the most extensive footage ever shot of a single school feeding for over an hour. It was a big hit at last years show and I will include a minute or two of the best scenes again this year.

I have the limited lightning situation covered as well. My new camera has a max ISO setting of over 100,000 and it can almost film by moonlight. I have included some very interesting footage of squid and eels at night with a macro look at their coloration and behavior...eels may be a very different color than you imagine underwater...enough said about that, you'll have to catch the seminar to see the great eel expose shots.

I'm also going to incorporate my view of the top ten secrets for catching monster stripers.

So far the only missing elements are mermaids and nets full of dead bass...I'll go for the mermaid first, then the pirates.

Yes Rocco, Jr. has a nice line of boutique, hand crafted lures that he plans on selling at upcoming shows. A real chip off the old block when it comes to talent with wood and air brush.

On my end it's always the bump, bump, bump - Slam.
I've got lot's of theory's as to what's going on back there - would love to see some video to show me how full of sheet I am.

The hundreds seals at the cape are consuming tons of food to survive. It would be interesting to know how, what, when and where they eat.
You probably would need a cage just in case of a great white or just take your chances, hmm maybe not.

The trawlers are shown at the horizon in line with the plug.


The resolution is high even when zoom in

The action of different plugs, jigs, and even bait. Film it showing the angler split screen with their offering being shown in action, so you can see how they impart action on the plug. Different Anglers, different situations/areas and different styles, the possibilities are almost endless.
