Hot Water Heater Help.
Well, walked into basment to a good flood of water around the hot water heater...:wall::wall:
Can anyone recomend somebody in the RI EG/Warwick/NK area to come fix, or knowing the luck I have been having -replace- this thing? This is beyond my DIY comfort zone. All advice welcome. Thanks Zac |
actually probably anyone in RI would be fine....
I hate to surf the net, then just dial and cross fingers that I get a good, honest, knowlegable person... |
Do you have Gas service from National Grid? They are back to selling water heaters again. I bought my replacement from them and including installation , it was the best deal around for a high end water heater. I got the highest rated , longest warrantee model and installed I think it was $450 for a 30 or 40 gallon (I forget the size off hand)
There was a time when they offered a 20 year warrantee on AOSmith or some other big names but now I believe the best warrantee is 10. What I learned was a 5 year warrantee heater will probably go in 5 years. A 7 year warrantee one will go in 7 but if you get the best one (10 year warrantee , it will last somewhat longer than the ten years. Mine was maybe "American Water Heater" or some name with American in it. |
thanks saltheart. It is propane fired, unfortunately, and powervented to boot.$$
It seems that most AO Smith have 6 year warantee now. That is what this was. it lasted 9 years(to the day!), so I guess it worked out. three plumbing issues in 2 weeks. Clogged main line(septic)... fixed myself..pain in the a-- and disgusting. Hot water heater burst.... call in pro help... paid too much. supply line to kitchen sink let go, easy fix but big wet mess.. Ugg, what a December.... |
