Masterlure

I want to do a set of Masterlure plugs, but I can only get my hands on the smaller freshwater ones. Anyone have any spec.'s on the Rocket, Snook and popper? Found the dimensions on the eels and may try them also. Thanks

I only have a popper (they made several) and some eels.

The popper is 6" long
3.1oz 5/0 hooks
Floats vertical with water level just above the belly hook.

tail is .55
1" from tail .61
2" 1.08
3" 1.35
4" 1.40
5" 1.42
hook is 4.25" from tail
cup 1.25"+
face angle @70 degrees
Tail weight .375oz/11grams

The xray shows the weight mid plug, but it is a sloppy fit and slides in there from the hook all the way to the tail. Pretty sure it spent most of its time in the tail.

Thanks George, here are some I did this morning based on photo's and guess work.

Nice. Always have luved their paint jobs, unfortunately paint seems to flake off a lot on the plugs I have seen. Just like the color combos they did. If you get a chance to see some pristine ones they are beautiful works of art.

Paul, you're right ! I love the paint work on the Masterlures, and the plug designs too. Here's some practice paints. Hopefully get them down a little better on the Masterlure copies! Also a photo of the popper I did just using photo's and guess work (a little thicker at tail) compared to the bottom one which is from Numby's spec's....Thanks again George
On to searching more site's for Masterlure paint schemes!!

I have a spin atom size, giant pikie style and smaller jointed I can lend you for copying purposes if needed.

Looking for some measurements on any of these "Some Plugs Thread" (6" and larger models). A side shot photo and measurements in 1" increments would be great.....:uhuh:
Thanks and hope to have some painted by the weekend and will post pic's!

ProfessorM 01-06-2011 08:10 PM

nice job on the paint. If you are looking for pics look above in this forum in the sticky section , 4th one down, called some plugs thread link. Many lures in there and probably some Masterlures if you look thru it. Going to take some time though but a great wealth of pictures in there if you didn't already know.

I'm going to just let it harden up good and then see if I can sand some of it off, probably just give it to a friend, like you say "fish don't care", turned another and will do today.

Laugh about it and fish it.

That popper looks right on, and very nice paint.
