Kentfab no more?

Got a auction notice yesterday. Everything going. Sorry to see this happen. Eric was a great guy. Absolute perfectionist. Expensive but WELL worth it.

TUES., JAN. 11th AT 10:30 AM

Shame also the guy auctioning it is a friggin CROOK. Eric will walk away with next to nothing.

What did KentFab do exactly Scott?? Looks like Metal Fab but this thread is in the boating forum?? Just curious as they are down the street from me? Thanks.

It is a shame these businesses just are no longer thriving.

Eric was one of the top of the line fabrication companies for T tops, towers, anything to do with metal on boats. IMO the best in the business. I had him do my T top about 9 years ago. Beat the snot out of the thing and not ever one crack. Because it was designed right...the guy knew/knows how to do stuff right.

Thanks Scott. That is a shame.

Sign of the times. I have had to make some serious compromises to keep my studio going.
I haven't made pipes and bongs yet... That's the nuclear option. :rotfl:

Hmmmm wonder if he has a fiberglass top for a T-top with box that he would sell.......

UserRemoved1 01-08-2011 11:01 AM

Not any more he don't. Once you sign that contract with the auctioneer your done. Unless it's excluded which I doubt. He didn't have alot of stuff hanging around that I ever saw.

Anyone with interest in going to the auction don't waste your time. I hired these guys once. I found out after the auction was over that the auctioneer was shill bidding the stuff to someone who wasn't even in the room. Their ethics $uck. You will overpay for anything there. I no longer go to their auctions because of their practices. :smash:

go starboard Ross....I did and love it. Any junk on it cleans off with a brush and bleach..never disintegrates in sun like fglass gelcoat does.

Based on 4 stress cracks in my new T-top at the end of this season, it's probably no wonder. Kentfab agreed to weld on 4 gussets in the corners, but would not pay to pull all the wiring and re-wire, so that's on me come spring.

Don't know all the details, but I guess Erik and his partner finally agreed to disagree and Erik is now in Pembroke going by the name Kent Fabrications.

there is another product like starboard out there that is lighter and better for use on t-tops. cleans just as easily. also cost less money. I don't remeber the name of it as I have only used it once. if you talk to palco plastics in whitman Ma they will know as that's where I get all my plastics. very reasonable and lots of product in stock

Surprised to hear that Bob. That's not typical from anything Ive seen come out of his shop. I'd still go to him at his new place.. Wire pulling is easy. Vacuum cleaner and a mouse on a string is all you need.
