Troegs Beer
Has anyone tried any of their brews? They're based out of PA. I'm going to a beer dinner put on by them tomorrow night and am looking forward to trying some new beers.

I was given a case of their seasonal mix as a gift. Enjoyed the ones I drank, don't like wheat beers so I glossed over those. I really enjoyed the Java Head Stout.
Overall, most people I know have given them pretty good reviews. |

Generally speaking they're not bad, although I find many of them to be just a bit off. Either to malty or the mouth feel just isn't there.
I think the dopplebock is probably my fav of the bunch. -spence |
Thanks, guys. I went to a beer dinner a while back featuring Leinenkugel (sp?) and was glad I did. If I hadn't gone, I wouldn't have tried their beer and I found a couple I really like.

John, you ever go to Croxley's? Nearest one is Farmingdale. They always have Troegenator on tap, along with about another 60 beers :D.

So I went to the beer dinner on Tuesday night and had 5 different Troegs beer styles with different food items. All of the beers were good, but my 2 favorites are the Pale Ale and the HopBack Amber Ale. The most interesting one was a seasonal brew called Mad Elf. I think it's about 11% ABV and had an interesting flavor profile with fruit and spices noticeable. The guy mentioned that the Nugget Nectar will be out real soon and I'm looking forward to that. Supposed to be very hoppy.

Mad Elf is nice in that it has a really high ABV but isn't terribly expensive :hihi:
Decent flavor, but a bit thin body if I remember. -spence |
