jerry brown braid?
 

Any fans out there using his braid ? If so hollow or solid ? The solid seems less expensive then the hollow. I use suffix now would this be similar? thanks mike

Great for jigging/spinning tuna.
Terrible on casting conventionals.

Had terrible wind knots surfcasting 60 lb JB hollowcore (VS250).

Tuna? Yes please... Awesome stuff.

Bass? Stick with your normal braid (sufix). If you go tuna fishing enough, might be worth it to pick up a spare spool so you have one spool loaded for both species at all times.

No experience with the solid..

Same exact advice as above.

I wouldn't use anything else for tuna except jb hollowcore. I wouldn't spend the money on it for stripers. PP does just fine by me.

What no one mentioned, but is thinking yet, is the main reason why lots of guys will use the jb hollow for tuna fishing rather than a solid. It will lay a bit flatter for a bit more capacity but it is the ability to make spliced loops to form loop to loop connections of run your mono or flouro leader up inside the jb to make your own wind on leader.

Also some sharpies will put a couple hundreds yards of jb on for a top shot for they feel it flys better with the kite on lite wind days.

This past season I started using JB Hollow
 

Mainly for abrasion resistance. I splice about 10' of fluorocarbon into it which gives me essentially a 12'-15' leader. I am going to experiment with tying a spro swivel on the braid with the fluorocarbon inside to see what effect it has on knot strength and then just add a leader. I also have to figure what guides I like best because with my mojo there is allot of noise when the fluorocarbon inside the braid passes through the lowriders which I feel reduces the distance of the cast. I still have allot of testing before I can recommend it though. Also Power pro has a hollow core now. It's called hollow ace which seems promising.

I use the 60 JB hollow for tuna but not for bass. I've had no problems with casting on my stella. If you plan on hollow and splicing, go with the white, the colored is much harder to splice. Start with splicing 80 before you go to 60 as 60 is tough till you get the hang of it. I use loop to loop windons for tuna and made some 50 lb leaders for bass,80 lb leaders when blues are present.

Lately I've been using suffix solid for bass.Once you get the hang of splicing you ,it'll benefit you with solid line as well. Say you lose a bunch of line off your spool. You add some more solid line with a splice of hollow with 100% line strength.
