4 Wheel Drive.....
Doesn't mean you're friggin Invincible....Driving home from work today in the snow down 95 doing about 50....when this nitwit flies by me on the left then tries to cut over to the right and loses control...swerves around then is heading right at me.....clips me and bumps me into the Median....1st words out of her mouth "I don't know how this happened I have 4 wheel drive"
I'll tell ya how it happened you were driving like an idiot.....Serenity Freikin Now Smashed in my tail light and rear fender...and now i'm stuck in 3 feet of plowed snow on the interstate, while she gets to drive off after exchanging papers, and I'm sitting there for another 1/2 hour waiting for a tow....then it cost me $90 to get pulled out :wall: Its snow poeple....its slippery whether 2 tires are sliding or all 4...:wall: Zipperheads |

Sorry you had to deal with that. Was just talking with someone today about the stupidity of people. "Yup, 4-wheel drive gets you moving forward, doesn't do squat to help you stop though." |

At least her ignorance didn't hurt you.

too bad you didn't have a tow rope on board ...
then you could have made her tow you out.... with her 4 wheel drive tape it up! plan on doing the body work yourself and buy something sweet with that insurance check Glad your ok in a big way |
what a dummy. Kev hope it works out and you had a witness.
Stupid people shouldn't have 4x4 Quote:

She should be made to cover your deductible, including tow bill. Hell, I'd send her the tow bill.....
|
So would I with a note that if it's not paid in 10 days you'll taker her to court with atty's costs included.
I think your neck is hurting too isn't it? Call Jim Sokolove. You'll be rich. |
Scary stuff being disabled on the highway, drunken rubber necks follow their nose.
her insurance company should pay for the $90 tow. Hopefully, you're like most dad's and have the shtty family car and can pocket the insurance $$, then start hunting the junkies/aftermarkets for a new tail light. Glad you're ok. |
My truck has 4X and I love it!
I only rely on it for traction to get moving, and for a little added control while driving, but I know that 4X drive will do nothing to help you stop. I scratch my head when I see and hear people talk like that woman, thinking that 4X drive can do EVERYTHING. Do these people really understand their vehicles? I think not. One thing I stress with friends and family when discussing my/our vehicles is that you have to fully understand your vehicles limitations under adverse conditions. There are times when I won't drive because the risk is too high under the conditions at hand. As for this past storm, I picked up 4 bags of "tube sand" @ 60 lbs each for the bed of my truck. Since I will be driving here and up north in some (somewhat) remote locations for ice fishing, I like to stack the deck a little more in my favor. Of course nothing beats an informed and intelligent mind for dealing with winter conditions, but there are some safety issues that you can address that will be most beneficial should you be faced with a problem away from home. |
Glad your OK, TDF.
What a pain having to lay up your truck while they do the body work. |
Glad you are OK - at speeds like that it could have been much worse. I agree the invincibility theories of 4WD are crazy. As a follow up - that tube sand works great, heavy and compact just make sure to get bags with no holes. I keep a few bags in the back of my 01 cherokee. It has 4WD, but still isnt very heavy so it really is not a great bad weather car. It is great offroad, getting through and up and over things, steering in bad conditions not so much. I agree with an earlier quote that sometimes it just makes sense to stay home unless completely necessary.
Road conditions are not consistent, all it takes is a bridge or a pothole or wehatever to form one icey spot and your done. I got in an accident 10 years ago on an icy night heading to my wife's (then she was my GF) on basically a late night rendevous and paid the price when I was totaled by a wagon with AWD that lost control around an icy curve. Very scary and expensive, since it was an old car with no collision, and taught me a lesson. Again, just be glad you are ok... |
Did she get ticketed? Did she leave before the police showed up? What an ass. I don't know how this happened. It happened because you were driving as to endanger. It happened because you were negligent. I'm so glad you're ok. The idea of just driving off after pile driving some into a snowbank and leaving them there really pisses me off.

She stopped, the one thing that completely blew my mind was when the staties show up....they never even asked to look at either of our Licenses or registration.
I got all her info before hand though.... |
WTF kind of accident investigation was that! I mean really! They should have at the very least determined what happened, and for crying out loud, identified WHO was involved. How could they do that without license and registration? I hope you can get out of your deductible. Her Ins. Co. should be picking up that tab.
|
Glad your ok Kevin. Even though she was obviously at fault, the weather conditions will likely prevent the insurance company from assigning fault, unless you had a dash-camera recording it all. Only hope would be if the staties indicated she caused it. If they did not, you could contact them and ask for something in writing to avoid that deductable.
|
My comments will be "She Rear Ended me on the highway" Damage is in the rear.
But you are probably right...it will be No Fault because of the weather |

I believe in MA, if you hit someone in the rear of their car, you're guilty until proven innocent. Remember, all they need to do is make the other person 51% at fault. You talk to your insurance company yet? |
Yeah I talked to them...looks like she is going to be found At Fault.....should recoup everything including tow.
Unless she lies through her teeth.... |
