is the consensus that this area will naturally rebuild or is the thinking that this breach it is more permanent?

I dont think it is that serious. The sediment that was carried inside the pond during the storm does not have the same chance to be carried back where it was during a storm, but I think it will over time flow from inside the pond and replenish the break. Just will take a while.

My guess is it will close. More likely the sediment inside will stay, and it will close from longshore/onshore transport. Provided there aren't a few more storms of similar or larger magnitude.

That happened last year at Democrat Point.

While it was cool that guys wouldn't cross it because they were skeered, if you were out for too long it got dicey. It filled in over the winter and changed the whole point. Long story short, it sucked this year. It filled in so well that they let you drive on it which put the quality of angler waaay down. Before it was a half mile walk and there was DEEP water rips 30 feet out. This year it was a drop at the very end of the cast with a very shallow bar all the way in and all the bait soakers you could shake a clam at.
