Pichney I.D. Tip
Picked up a vintage plug that's supposed to be a Danny pichney jointed danny. From what Ive researched and seen from pics it looks like the real deal. It's body is 8" long, 3 sets of open eye treble hooks.
Any sure signs to tell?? I'll post pics once I can get to my house computer. On the bassdozer site it states that the jointed danny is one of the rarest and hardest to find. |
Picked it up because I love jointed plugs and wanted it for reference and measurements.
The front half is in good shape, but the back half has lots of rash and paint flaking off. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

Are there any tell tale signs to tell if it's one of his? Tail wraps, lip thickness, etc? Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
didn't see that sorry. He's got a distinctive tail wrap and his lips are distinctive too-no two are alike they were made by hand. Clearcoat is typically slightly yellowed, usually has very small grains of silver glitter in it.

Almost always tailwraps, the eyes a builder generally uses and most often the paint work is a great way to identify a builder. As Salty states Pichney's tailwrap is unmistakable.....John Habs wrap is also a dead giveaway.

Thanks for the info, I've been comparing my plug to pics on online, lots of similiar things.
I took about a dozen pics I'll post up asap Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
A sure give a way to me are his lips which have a wire brushed looking finish and hand made look to them.
