Paint problem
 

This morning I tried to paint, using Createx, in my cellar. Cellar is cold needless to say and I belive the paint because of the tempurarture in the cellar, was thicker than usual and wouldn't flow through the needle. It was bubbling back out of the resevoir. I fully cleaned the 360 that I use and tried it again. And it was friekin dirty. Same deal. So I am hoping that by bringing the paint upstairs where trhe temp is 70 to 74 because of the wood stove, the paint will thin out and flow normally through the air brush. Would anyone here be of the same opinon. Thanks for any comments.

Temp has its effects but I think it was just gunked up. The gunk will definitely cause it to kick back.Like most, I usually paint plugs in batches so I started to break down my brush after every use. after doing it all the time it only takes 30 seconds.

sending cleaner through pushes most of the paint out but not all. Leaving it there to harden up.

I would also say gunked up Frank? My basement is pretty chilly and I was down there painting a few and I have no trouble with the paint being cold? Soak your airbrush in the cleaning mix for 30-60 minutes after use Frank and then rinse it out and blow some air through it and dry it out after use. It works for me!

in my experience Createx ABSOLUTELY has to be above 70 degrees or it just won't flow even thinning it didn't help me under 70.

I did clean it pretty thoroughly. I don't have any createx cleaning solution. Is their something that can be substituted, acetone or something else. I left the paint upstairs where it is very warm, wood stove, so I'll be trying again later.

Take the nozzle and tip cone off and soak in ammonia for about 15 min. also clean off needle.

cone gets clogged all the time and the usual culprit. I leave my paint up stairs in heat but when I go to paint I bring down into a cold basement and have no problem, other than being a hack at painting. Unscrew the front part and take cone off clean out and clean needle too. I have to do it all the time as my paints are getting old and have lumps and crap in them, but I'm used to it. Like I said I'm a hack.

for cleaning use the Bernzy solution of Simple Green, Windex, and water. In thirds i think. I make a gallon at a time. Go to BJ's and get a gallon of each and mix up a gallon or 2. Pick your self up a couple of these as they are great to push that above solution thru the gun at the pick up and push thru the cone too. A must have IMO.

I'm with you Paul. Also be careful using acetone or lacquer thinner on your airbrush, the seals are solvent RESISTENT not proof, I messed one of my brushes up pretty good by soaking it in laquer thinner for too long.

yeah that could be. I made a gallon like 3 years ago and am just using it up now so it has been a long while since I made a batch.

As was mentioned it is usually the nozzle gunked up or the paint needs to be thinned some more thats when they usually bubble back at ya.

I did clean it twice and then again this morning and realized there is a cone inside the cone, which was pretty gunked up as well. It is soaking in the Bigfish/Bernzy copyright solution:rotf2:. I think I'll go to the YMCA and try it again when I come back.

Denatured alcohol will disove the dried paint, and is far less aggressive towards the seals as are acetone and other solvents...

Going to do that at work this afternoon.

That is the correct formula.
