muscle confusion
 
any workout guys here that have any input on this theory that the
PX90 got going.

have been trying this at home. but i also have read a fair amount of info that thinks the concept is bogus based on the idea that practicing muscle confusion causes feedback confusion. alternating between several exercise programs too often may not give the body enough time to gain body mass. also muscles require systematic overloading and recuperation to grow and develop. probably much more complicated than that, but that's the basic idea i believe.

so just wondering what you think?

I think it really just falls onto what your goals are. I see P90X for people that need to lose weight or for those that may have a weight that is within the norms but have no real physical strength/endurance (ex: your average college nerd).

Fitness and was a bit of an obsession for me in college - ate a strictly vegetarian diet (still do aside from fish), paid strict attention to my diet and was a workout freak. I think P90X is a good set of tapes that was heavily and effective marketed to build hype, but I don't buy some of the "ground-breaking" statements. Anyone who sticks to a high-intensity workout routine for 90 days and adjusts their diet (emphasize in the P90X program) is going to lose weight and feel better.

In terms of their claims of "muscle confusion"... I don't buy it. I think that is something that should only really be a concern for people that have been training for a while - and even then, changing your workout every 3-4 weeks should help prevent a premature plateau. People with weight training experience are not the target market for P90X.

Personally, I've considered doing a P90X cycle. I can re-build strength pretty easily but I'm terrible at building endurance effectively, and that is where I think P90X shines.

Like Likwid I like the crossfit activities. Anything I do I try and make it a lot of reps with little rest. 7 Sets 4 activities each set. Rest 30-60 sec between sets. Keep the heart pumping.

Me no type good sometimes.... you ballbuster.

Yeah that's right, pretty strict vegetarian for.... 7 or 8 years now. It wasn't really my choice to cut the meats out - remind me and I'll explain it to you via phone. Lowest triglycerides of all my Dr's patients, a total cholesterol lower than most people's LDL and a proportionately high HDL. Not to mention 5% body fat.

i use a different set of tools
 
....
grub hoe,shovel, pick, post hole digger
wheel barrow, carrying pots that weigh
50 lbs and up...
moving lots of ones, twos, and three gallons
big bread trays loaded with four inch pots ect.

My exercise makes food grow
so i get double the benefit
and better health
because its ultimately fresher

my garden is my Gymnasium

Its an awesome workout. Confusion, variety, call it what you want. This workout kicks butt. You have the time to do it for the hour each day, do it.
The thing I like about it is there are no real weights involved.
The yoga itself is a buster.

I been practicing mental confusion and it hasn't seem to help me one bit.

I agree with this. Although I mix crossfit with your typical weight trainging. When I did strictly crossfit workout I was getting in great shape but losing muscle mass. I was getting stronger but in different ways. My bench went down 25 lbs but i could do 20 pullups. So now i do a workout that mixes the two. For example:

day1- chest & tri's
day2- wall balls, box jumps, kball swings, dble unders ect.
day3- shoulders
day4- ropes, cleans, C2 row, kball stuff ect
day5- back, bi's
day6- cardio, legs

been on this for about a 4 weeks and so far so good.
