Bizarre sickness this year

My family has been getting hit hard this year with stomach viruses and other fun illnesses.
the latest round is a bizarre extreme chills and muscle ache thing. My wife is getting hit today, hit me 2 weeks ago. I was literally wearing multiple layers of clothes, winter jacket , blankets and hugging a heating pad and still freezing inside the house. Feeling wiped out, and muscle aches. It came on and off over 3 days.
My wife was very tired last night and muscle aches, this morning she has the same extreme chills. Cant get out of bed. There is no fever or cough.
very weird. Anyone else experiencing this?

Can you get Lyme disease in the winter? I don't know the answer to that but I'd get tested. Those symptoms don't sound very good.

I've heard a lot of people with the same thing. Everyday I hear someone new getting it. Wash hand, wash hands, then.....wash hands

Jimmy, it is a brutal year for this stuff. In years past we were hardly touched. We had the stomach flu tear through (luckily only the 24 hr bug), then the fever chill thing, then a chest congestion thing.

We are healthy now (knocking on wood) but we had a 2 month stretch that was awful.

Come on spring!

I feel your pain, my wife had it last week. It annihilated me over the weekend. Its the kind you hate the most when it happens, thankfully something that bad only gets us once in a while.

Im a 100% now. Its a relatively fast moving bug. I think mine lasted a few days because I was out shoveling snow before I was healthy.

Sounds like we're not the only ones experiencing it. Crap winter.

I remember this dude came to work sick

i'm thinkin he's got the flu no problem

then he asks me for a ride home

i get home and it hits me fast

talk about fast moving....

I remember being collapsed in the HOT shower
sitting on the floor leaning against a wall
in a semi fetal position shivering real bad
as IF i was laying naked in the snow

Me thinks you need to take that little vacation we talked about. Get outside and get active.

Did any family members get a flu shot this year?

Sea Dangles 01-26-2011 03:34 PM

Surprisingly it is not too serious as far as being life threatening, amoxicillin smoked it in 2 days.

Totally forgot, my oldest also had Fifths Disease. I had never heard of it. Also called the 'slap face' virus. Red cheeks low grade fevers and lethargy.

I actually run 4 days a week, outside at 6am! Even in these record lows. Last year my wife and kids got the flu and I escaped, I really think it was beacuse I was running
