Who the heck are these people and why does their site come up when I click on a thread on S-B?:smash: something weird going on I click on a thread and this site comes up, I hit back and the thread shows for a fraction of a second and back to this site, over and over unless I click back twice fast. This is not the first time either, it has happened to me atleast 2 other times it happened twice today alone. What is going on? does this happen because of the google add? I have popup blocker :wall: |
Me too... I usually close the browser and open another. I get Price Gong too....:smash::spam:

your icon got compromized
and or your being RE-directed...
right-click the icon and check the properties see what it says... so............ go into your S-B User CP and drag the address to your desktop and come in the back door :uhuh: then ya can just double click the s-b logo to see the main forums page |

of S_B .com to your desktop? so you have a clickable short cut handy? or i should ask: when you go to s-b how do you go about it...? do you type in the address each time? icons are little graphic symbols that allow you to open an executable file for a program or a shortcut to something on the internet like weather.com ect.. google... microsoft word. |
ya it's at the top of my favorites list
what does that have to do with this site popping up? |
nothing, you being hacked, did you run a malware detection software?
|
well you can drag S-B off of your favorites list to your desktop
sometimes ICONS go bad for what ever weird reason Slip... never mind, and carry on my friend... |
It's not an icon problem, I get it too sometimes on here, sometimes on the other site.
|
Same here. It's definately not an icon problem. I've run malware detection and it comes up negres.
|
S-B gone buggy.. banner ads and the like taking over?
I get them as well, but only here.. reported them all to my so called "free" norton from comcrap..and ain't seen them since |
run combofix. this could be a nasty infection, does your mouse itch, or run?
|
no, just hemmoroid issues, little prep h, and "away...we go!"
|
OK, wish I had checked this thread earlier. To the best of my knowledge (and memory) we had two incidents, one an infected file here years ago - not serious - and cleaned. And more recently last year a problem with some google ads, fixed after a couple days (and disabled during the time of issue). And NOT on S-B's server.
IIRC the MyWebFace is part of some download - not associated with S-B - that has to do with online searching / avatar type crap. If your computer IS infected, it likely came from somewhere else and is activated when you go on the web, regardless of whether S-B or somewhere else. Steps: Download, install, update, run Malwarebytes: Malwarebytes Run MS / Windows updates: Start > Programs > Windows Update. Run all of the important updates. Have UP TO DATE Anti-Virus: Kaspersky is great but a nagging P.I.A. AVG is pretty good Norton Sucks and is a pig Trend Micro is fair Norton Sucks. Update, Update, Update, then full scan Reboot, rescan with Malwarebytes |
JohnR - it's a DNS attack. it's on the combofix boards. It seems to have some relation to p2p file sharing system.

I've seen this as being related to MyWebSearch toolbar - arguably a source of spam and a resource hog. Only problem with Combofix is can break things. |
thanks John, I'm pretty sure we have AVG
I will show this to Melissa when she gets home and have her follow thru I'm not messing with that geek stuff update malware |
Sounds like an OSI Layer 8 issue:)
