MMMMM Smelts...
 

Hit Sonny's Smelt camp up in Dresden yesterday (Well Thursday into Yesterday) A few Beers, a pot of venison Stew and then bagged a bunch of these tasty morsels....mmmm Thats Livin.

rather do that than cod fish for 10 fish.

Anybody going smelting?
 

Never been would love to go this coming week. Good bamboo rod show , Fishboo N of Portland could combine a friday and Sat jaunt.

Let me know. I'd like to have company.

I keep saying I'm gonna do it and it seems I never get around to it. One of these days!

Man that looks good. Just ate my herring. Would flick the finished product but my cam is dead.

I'm headed up to Bakers Camp Saturday... Hoping for similar results.

I have never gone either. Something on my bucket list I suppose. The only place I have seen a smelt is the fish market. Anyplace in my neck of the woods I can catch them or do I have to head north?

smelting is a pisser good time....

If you ever get the chance try tinker mackerel and treat them the same as you would smelt (cut behind the head enough to sever the spine a little cut by the anal vent to sever the intestine and pull the head with the entrails out all in one motion, cut off the tail, flour or bread and fry):drool:.

maybe next year we will do a sb.com smelt trip.
