Best Fly

What is the best all around fly for catching big Stripers over 34"

I still haven't caught a keeper on a fly, but the most productive fly for me is a white/yellow clouser w/dumbell eyes.

Best fly I ever found is a LARGE style white deceiver with chartreuse wing, red bucktail on the side and epoxied eyes/head.

I've slayed em with that fly ever time I fished it.

On flats and even deep water I have had great success with a clouser sand eel tied with ultra hair to blend in with the bottow and just a touch of mirrabou in between the top & bottom wing.

That being said, I personally don't think stripers are smart but instead are opportunistic - I think it's not really the fly but getting it to the fish.

1. Floating line & poppers/ unweighted flies for surface feeders
2. Intermediate line & unweghted flies or clouser for cruisers
in 5 - 10' of water
3. clousers & a sinking line in current or when drifting over holes.

If interested, I'd be more than willing to show you what works for me some time - we'll go out & :nailem:
