What time tellers are spending the most time on your wrist?

Most of my time the past year have been the Seiko Orange Monster during the day and the Luminox at night when fishing.

What are your daily drivers / fishing pieces?

I use my phone as a watch during the day. When out fishing, I don't bother with anything. If at the canal, the current gets me in the ballpark.

How bout that guy kevin some people will remember from this weekend at sortie haha. told exactly what time it is by lookin at the sun, using the hand over hand meathod.

I have a casio dig pathfinder fishing timer. has moon phases, tides, sunset, and rise. you can record times when you caught up to like 20 times. has a cool lightup feature you can set on that identifies when you turn your watch to look at it. pretty handy dont have to search for the led button or take off ur gloves or watever. they're around 50 bucks. worth it

Timex indiglo. Lighted background for night. Costs about $20 and lasts many years. When the battery goes after maybe 5 years , I get a new one whether I need it or not.

I have a lot of beautiful and some expensive watches but I just wear the timex. its indestructable.

2nd, but I only have one watch, I live in a third world state.
I think they are more than 20 bucks now:)

I can't get 6 months out of a Timex before it is destroyed.

I've got the Timex indiglo Tide and Temperature watch that I wear fishing and yakking. the water temp feature is pretty cool and if you set the tide correctly, it works well. I've beat on it pretty bad, and it still works great.

I wear mine fishing , in the shower in fact it seldom comes off at all. I wonder what activity is killing yours John? I do wear mine on the left hand and although almost ambidexterous , I do write and throw right handed. I fish left handed though. There must be one particular thing you do that is killing the watches.

They get t about $20 around christmas , I just get the most basic indiglo too , no fancy features.

The pins rip out of and round out in the watch case, strap fails after a while. These were the Timex Expeditions (which I really liked) and I have about 4 of them that all work as pocket watches now :devil2:

Did you know that you can buy a quality watch band with good pins separately and replace the cheap, broken one? :grins:

I've got a 4 yr old Expedition on its 2nd battery that has a barometer/temperture/and altimeter that works great for me... I have a nice thin Skagan for work & dress up ... rarely wear it...

Yes. the holes round out in the case. Now I 'spose I could have drilled out the holes and gone with a wider / firmer / stronger pin :buds:

I really would get 3-5 months out of the band and by the end of the 2nd band the holes were too rounded out.

NOW , i watch the exact position of the sun
where it rises in the morning and note the time
by looking at my cell phone

same thing at high NOON

and i watch for when the sun ducks behind
the large PINE tree... too ....and make a mental note

i guess you could say the sun's position in the sky
is now my time piece

My mistake, I thought the pins were wearing out on you. I've replaced a bunch of bands because the pins have gotten bent, but never because the the holes they go into got worn down.

Ah haah! so the watch still works , its your attachment mechanisms that are failing. :) I also used to experience band/pin type failures.Even the molded plastic type bands that are integral to the watch used to fail on me regularly. I switched to a twistoflex (spiedel) band instead of the tighter belt loop type. I also tend to get a new band and or pins with each new watch. I would say a typical belt buckle type band only lasted 6 months to a year for me. I think overall the answere was that with the buckle type I wore it too tight. With the flexible ones , I adjust it so it just barely moves at all when I shake my wrist . You get used to the slightly loose feel in no time.

Actually , pocket watches are nice too. :)

I have used times Timex Iornman watches for years. They are only about $35-40 You do need to replace the band and batteries every few years.

Johnny Sax, that was cool. I figured out how to do it, it was in my Backpacker Mag today. Each finger represents 15 minutes lol. For a watch I use the Lumi Nox as well. Once seeing Throwing Timber's in the middle of the night I had to have one as well.

Casio G Shock tough solar series with auto back light I've had it for 6 yrs. this has been my goto watch for an alarm clock,work watch,fishing watch and just kicking around.It's been through hell and back Im gonna have to cash it in and get a new one this spring.


Got this for my 40th.from my Wife & kids its my dress/sport watch a Citizens Eco drive Titanium Dive watch,its pretty cool it has an acent warning,logs dive time,depth and holds last depth.

That Luminox has slick Lume. I set the dive bezel to high or low tide or slack fishing around poles.

High Gear
 

I love my watch!!! It is a High Gear compass/watch priced between $40 and $ 50 bucks, this is beefy (see pictures). It has the compass and the inteval timer that I wanted. The compass was for when I was wading and the fog rolled in I would be able to find my way back in. The timer was for when I started running, walk 9 mins run 1 min. repeat three times, reducing the walking and increasing the running by a minute each week, at the end of three months i was running 3 miles under 30 minutes no problem. Takes a button battery # CR2032 which are common in any CVS and I can change myself with a dime. There was a previous thread on watches and I almost got the G-Shock that look indestructible but it was hard to tell in the store if it had the inteval timer I wanted. I really wanted a watch with tides too but sometimes you can't get everything so I just keep a chart in the car. :fishin:

none of you'ze guys are mentioning how much dough
it takes to own one of these modern day luminous fishing watches

i cannot wear one while working because of too
much saw dust and or dirt getting on them and soon they
resemble a filthy tennis shoe..
but i wouldn't mind having one for other activities

I'm rolling with the LumiNox too for the last couple years. Wear it through everything from work, boat, kayak, surf. Love it.

I'm in the JohnnyD camp....cellphone mostly.

My Son does the finger method of telling time....he's pretty good at it.....and he can just blame the clouds if he's late for dinner

orange dial nylon band lumi watch works great.had used timex ironman watches in past lasted alot of years ,alot of batteries and bands.found a timex sport nylon band new pins and that was the key to timex watch lasting.only issue i had with lumi the battery went dead,should have just got battery replaced.made mistake of finding lumi service center and they charged me alot of $$$$$$$$ told me needed new parts cleaning etc.don't make the mistake i did just get like $5 new battery.
