New 6 Position Spinner works great

1 Attachment(s)
Just loaded up my new spinner with the 1st batch of 6. I find I can only Etex 2 at a time before the viscosity gets too thick... glad I have a p1000 Pipetman to measure out 500-1000ul volumes... I cut the tips back and angle the end off the disposable tips and heat both the hardner and resin by placing them on top of my furnace... I may start keeping the cup in a warm water bath to keep the mixed etex at 80-85 degrees while I am applying it

The springs that Woody recommended are great- Thanks

nice spinner. do you have shelter for it?

should be able to get more then two plugs done.
heating it up to much causes the epoxy to activate sooner.
warms nice but a drastic temperature change will turn it into goop.

Chris check out the thread I posted called " epoxy issues" look at musky slayers tips.

I've been using his plate method and have been getting 6 to 8 plugs per batch. Less waste, nicer and smoother an stronger etex too.

BT,

Beautiful drying wheel.....Using a pipette P1000 is a great idea, although I spend most of the day using them so with my free time I'll pass:jump1:

I should see if we have some out of commission ones laying around work, it's tough because we can send Rainin an ancient pipette and they'll give us a nice credit towards a new LTS.

Great work, the plugs on the spinner look awesome as well.

MS- This is an old P1000 but it still works great...

Chris- Thanks... I will try these tricks and see if I can get 6 plugs per batch.

If the epoxy is kicking after 2 plugs I would assume you have it in some type of cylindrical container (cup). This would cause the chemical reaction to speed up and set the epoxy.

After you mix the epoxy pour it out onto a clean surface like aluminum foil on a plate you will be amazed at how this slows the curing process.

I use aluminum baby pie plates...get a sleeve from stop shop but one will last a long time. Use it over and over

I agree with PNG. Try the plastic cover that comes with a 39oz coffee can and put aluminium foil on it. Use it over and over. After the plugs are coated, hit them with a hair dryer. It evens out the ETex and drives out air bubbles. The hair dryer will also drive the mix into the belly grommit and lip, sealing them in. The Etex is easily applied with an acid brush.

I do three no problem. I know I could do three more easily using etex. Reaing the above. I just mix it in a two oz. plastic cup the same one I use for rod making epoxies and it sits unattended while I'll brush it on.

Be careful....LTS (Lite Touch System) locks you into special tips that won't fit "universal" pipettes like Gilson Pipetman among others.

Gilson will also give you a trade in deal. Check out Gilson Pipetman | Pipettes, Pipettors, Multichannel Pipettes, Ergonomic Pipettes, Tips and contact your local rep.

For VERY viscous fluids, try the Microman: Microman Positive-Displacement Pipettes, Pipette Calibration

I get 8-12 med /small lures done about 15 minutes no issues
Mix a batch total 2oz and then pour out onto -old ice tray with aluminum foil as a liner .
You can exhale on mixture to release some bubbles and then start brushing
Foam brush works well .. when done I can check tray for hardness .
clean up is easy throw out liner with hard etex and make new liner .
You can even go right on top of hardened etex next time
