last week when the L F got out to the spot. both of the current boats where hooked up, double anchored on the spot.

I'm thinking 0100 and it's just waay to early for me.

JFigliuolo 02-22-2011 08:20 AM

11:30 is the new time.

RIROCKHOUND 02-22-2011 08:22 AM

Wow.
Getting competative. the LF had been fishing way away from the IC boats from what I heard.....

Can't go on Thursday, but I am booked for next Sunday on a Montauk based boat. Bunch of my friends got together and chartered the Celtic Quest. Good luck if you go, fishing has been crazy good lately.

striperman36 02-22-2011 11:05 AM

Celtic Quest, was so close to us last week, it snagged lines in it's anchor line when it pulled up.

Goose 02-22-2011 11:34 AM

What marine forecast should I be looking at for the Island Current out of snug harbor?

niko 02-22-2011 11:37 AM

se of block island. it's the coastal waters from montauk to mv extending 20 miles south of BI forcast

All of the boats are fishing the same area, generally within sight of each other.

rhody 02-22-2011 08:56 PM

low of 25,wind SW about 4. I'm in.

niko 02-23-2011 06:43 AM

Good luck tomorrow, post a report! i got to try one of those trips this winter...

Do you guys have a preference between the Island Current and the Frances Fleet? The advandate of the Frances Fleet is that I can hit George's afterwards for a seafood pot pie...

Is one outfit better, or more friendly, than the other?

niko 02-23-2011 03:18 PM

i've done a handful of trips on the ff and none have been very productive. they are all pretty much fishing the same area though

Same here, I will be fishing some other boat next time.

Please be sure to post back on how you made out so I have some idea what to expect on Sunday. Today the fleet hammered them again but the bite was a little later.

fish4striper 02-24-2011 02:02 PM

Paul, You alive? maybe you passed out? :grins:

SUPER codfishing on both boats 2/24

Today, 2/24 both the ISLAND CURRENT II & III were out and reported phenomenal CODFISHING. Rods were bent over steady all night & early morning with FULL BOAT limits being obtained. Hi-hooks in the 30's (ORL). Many customers carefully releasing and throwing back fresh green cod.
Both Captain's reported a later bite then we have seen in the week of trips prior. All fish were caught on fresh skimmers and heavy chumming.

niko 02-24-2011 02:05 PM

"full boat limit" is a stretch.

fish4striper 02-24-2011 02:09 PM

They all seem to exaggerate their reports at times but he seems to work harder than the other boat down IMO
