FoxNews.com - Record-Crushing 327-Pound 'Dinosaur Fish' Caught

RIROCKHOUND 03-03-2011 01:05 PM

Hey Ya'll look what I killed just to kill it.

Sea Flat 03-03-2011 01:06 PM

That is a huge and ugly fish!

Not that I care, but doesn't the story given sound a bit far fetched? I think that fish may have been dead when brought aboard the boat.

Raven 03-03-2011 01:21 PM

that sucka could eat someone

JohnnyD 03-03-2011 01:28 PM

Hillbillies breaking records... just one more reason why we need to get rid of net fishing.:hidin:

Saltheart 03-03-2011 02:15 PM

Wouldn't want to run into that while skinny dipping! :)

Bryan that fish was 50-70 years old. Shame it had to die. Who knows maybe he fed alot of people. I dunno. Probably not.

Oh am sure that thing got ate. Come on its the south, you know they dipped it in flour and had a huge fish fry.

FishermanTim 03-03-2011 04:26 PM

Unfortunately, alligator gar are only dangerous when you pull them into your boat.
They are fish eaters and scavengers, not aggressive like a pike.
They are hearty fish that can survive out of water for sometime, and are usually caught by hook or by bow and arrow. They have a very thick skin "just like an alligator".

I don't know about eating them, but killing them just for the sake of getting your mug in the news is rather dissappointing.

Oh well, at least when we keep and kill monster stripers, they do get eaten (in most cases).

MAKAI 03-03-2011 09:35 PM

Probably just got thrown in a ditch after pictures and beers.

No worse than killing a 50 just to mount it...

I agree. . . .Sounds fishy to me.
I can't picture anyone grabbing that thing by the gill, and pulling it in the boat, if it was still alive.

You would need full body armor, and not the modern stuff. You would need what the knights used to wear.
