Went through my wallet looking for something today and found a fuel receipt from last May from getting diesel @ Taylors in Green Harbor.
$2.57 a gal
Wonder if I can turn my BHM into a time machine like the Delorean from the movie Back to the future.
It's only march and they are getting $4.00 a gal for diesel on the street and every year it starts climbing higher as we get closer to memorial day weekend !

I've already cut down my trips to the store. If I only need one thing, I let it wait until I need more. :wall:

cruise control and low rpms have been in effect for a while now no speeding or ocean joy rides.Set cruise control at the speed limit and stay out of the way of traffic is my driving goal.If the speed limit on 295 is 65 that means 85 for most people. It's hard doing the speed limit on a two lane highway.

I think the price for diesel is "Your Firstborn".

Using a Scanguage ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool you can visually tune your driving for better fuel economy (I get an extra 15-20% when I pay attention) and in my experience do even better than with cruise control. I've done a few tests running miles with cruise control -v- running the foot control for best economy watching my scanguage.

Might even sell my original model and upgrade to the newer. Had it for 5 years and it has paid for itself many times over.

$159 + $0 shipping on Amazon (no State TAX!)

keeperreaper 03-04-2011 09:00 AM

Solo boat trips will limitied. No more 80 mile round trippers alone.

BaddJack 03-04-2011 10:41 AM

No new boat this year

Guess I'll stay with my limited range 18 foot flat bottom skiff with a 30 HP 4 stroke.

I typically don't use the full 6.6 gallons over a two day weekend.

Windy days keep me behind islands.

OK so I put one of these in my Tundra (if I can install one of these anyone can!) and I think it is totally obscene the poor gas mileage I get, I have never even paid attention or worried about the mileage previously just kept Phil'in it UP!:) I know I didn't buy the vehicle for the MPG but it is hard to get numbers even in double digits MPG. The only time I like the MPG number is going 60mph, down hill coasting with my foot off the gas petal!:biglaugh: Can't wait until I put the boat trailer on the hitch?:wall: I'll just give the gas station an arm, a leg, and BOTH nuts.

Phil, don't feel bad. My brand new Sequoia has built in digital MPG gauge feature that changes as you go. I almost puked in my mouth when I saw the numbers (really doesn’t get above 14). I have since turned it off and my ride is much more enjoyable :)

$82 to fill up today......ouch!!!:fury:

JackK 03-10-2011 03:25 PM

Even in my little whip it's been costing me around $60 to fill up. I hunt for super Stop n Shops wherever I can just to get that extra five cents off per gallon...

BigFish 03-10-2011 03:31 PM

Thats where I usually fill up plus the grocery points help...sometimes save 30-50 cents a gallon.....but they screwed me today damn machines!! They never scan the friggin card! :fury:

JackK 03-10-2011 03:34 PM

Ouch!

I used to shop religiously at S&S just for those points... Then I discovered Market Basket, and my grocery bills have gone down about $100/month (no joke). Not saving that much in gas by shopping at S&S, that's for sure...

The tank in my G/W holds 90 gallons, at 4.00/gal it will be painful to fill up. Tuna trips are going to be expensive this year.

A RT for tuna for me usually is in the range of 20 gals (25max) used in a day. Add another 10gal for the truck!
