Yak Rats June Camping Event- June 11
 

Ok.. I have been drafted into organizing a camping trip.
So far what we have sort of solidified is that we are going on June 11 and will be paddling out to West Island off of Sakonnett Point RI. This place isnt really a camp ground, and is a home for a lot of seagulls, but I know a few who have camped out there and have had a blast.

For those who do not know of the history of West Island, at one time it was the home of the West Island Fishing Club.. much like the Newport Fishing club on Gooseberry Island, but not as large as the Cuttyhunk Club. All that is left is some ruins.

Looking forward to this overnight Eben! Its gonna be great! Nothing like camping under the stars and fishing with a great group of people!:uhuh:

Sounds like a great trip! Is a permit needed to camp? When would you sleep though would be too busy fishing.

I dont think a permit is needed.

Nebe: I would be very interested in going. I do alot of kayak fishing a little east of there. Can anyone join in? Or is it Yak-Rats only?

I'm definitely gonna try to make this one. I've wanted to fish West Island ever since reading an article about it years ago. Not sure what the family commitments are going to be for that weekend, though. If I do go, I think I'll sleep with one eye open. The Yak Rats are a pretty scary group.

Looks like I'm in. All I had to do was send my wife on a girls spa weekend and I got the go ahead for a few overnight fishing trips this season.

This weekend is creeping up kids!!! I for one am looking forward to it!!!!:uhuh:

I have to pull out my old tent (has not seen light of day for 10 years???) see what shape its in???? Its a 2 man if anyone wants in and does not own a tent??

I'm pumped for this trip. Hopefully the fish will be cooperative, but even if they aren't, it should still be a blast.
