First Try 2011

Wet some lines today. Fished some bait and threw some lures. Still early, no fish yet. Cool breeze at least 30 knots gave up.

Unless you were fishing for "holdovers" you were wasting your time. The first migratory fish show up when the water hits 50 degrees. I give you kudos for trying. When I was much younger I use to go to Narrow River in March and waste a lot of time, energy and gas money for nothing. Now that I am much older I realize that 50 is the magic number for fresh fish.

Back before the Bass got in trouble, like they are now, there was a run of schoolies at the West Wall in Galilie RI. Now that we have killed most of the breeders there is no schoolie run at all, never mind March. Give it another 3 weeks to a month and, hopefully, we will see some fish.

You gave yourself away

Paul,

You gave yourself away by posting at 4AM this morning.
Who else but a "soft in the head" would be up at that
hour except to go fishing. Don't deny it. You may talk
about 3 or 4 more weeks and the WW but we are
like peas. I was on two CC ponds yesterday (prior to
seeding with trout) looking for anything to tug on my
line. Water temp was just above freezing and wind
from NW directly in my face but I stayed the course
thinking of all my friends tight in their little beds.
What kind of devotion can you get that is better than
that. Gad, what a man. what a human!!!!!
