hunter rod vault

Anyone using these? Are they worth the price tag? I sold my thule castaway because it was way too small to carry 4 reels (spinners)and the ski racks I just bought are not tall enough to keep my reels from banging against the top of my cap.

You stick the reels UP. I have had ski rack since 92

I tried that and by the time I made it to the field to test cast the reel spun and was hitting the roof again.

I have mine for three yrs. already and been happy with. 4 rods. The only thing is it leaves a mark on the reel foot. I put a some electrical tape and that took care of it. I makes transporting your rods so easy and safe. Get a nice lock made for outdoors.

Well, I do not know what type of racks you have. I have Yakama which have built in locks. You face the spinning reels up and slide the reel seat under the bar that locks down. You close the bar and BINGO locked in place. They don't move. Again, I don't know how your racks work but that's how the Yakima racks work.

I bought these racks new from Quaker Lane Bait and Tackle in 1992. They are on the 5th or 6th truck since I have had them and aside from spraying them with WD-40 I have done nothing to them. They have built in locks and the bolts that hold them to the truck are underneath the bars so they literally cannot be opened or stolen without the key or a metal blade Sawsall.
