But, I did make these scaled down versions based ( loosely) on the original design. Bernzy |

Quite nice looking plugs. I have a question on the lips. After you have cut them to shape and size do you apoxy them in place? and is the through body wire going through the lip? The only swimmer's I have made have been with carved wooden lips.
 Thanks: Armand |
Hi Armand,
The lips I use are pre-manufactured. The plugs are turned from yellow cedar and thru wired with 116L stainless. After painting, I assemble the plug ( lip, wire, swivels etc. ) then I apply the epoxy finish. Bernzy |
Hey Bernzy,
I used the little brother of that purple haze and she swam like a champ! The bass are still smalll but it was nice to see wood swim like that. Can I put an order to do some more repainters for next year?:D |
Hey Winch,
Glad you like the paint :D Hopefully, they swim the way they were meant to. Send those beaters my way, I'll fix em up :hihi: Bernzy |
paint that changes color
first of all those plugs are unbelievably nice very well done!!.
just a thought though, if you wouldnt mind some tech talk. my neighbors shop has this truck (hes a painter of cars expert) that completely changes color as you drive/walk by it because of the higher degree of minute particles for the metal flake in the paint. The paint is extremely expensive costing 300 or so a pint. seeing those plugs reminds me of that truck sorta. its blue then changes to purple and then green.... i wonder if that concept could be utilized in plug makin. |
Raven,
You could certainly apply the same ideas to plugs. Most of us include some glitter in with the clear coat. Chamilion colors from Createx paints are similar to what you describe, they'll change color a little depending on the light. Jigman |
