Commercial fishing for Black Sea bass.
Not a bashing of comms thread by any means. I guess this goes for scup as well. There is a targeted season for scup and seas bass in the area. My question is what do they do with the fish? I have never seen a sea bass of scup for sale in a grocery store, and only very rarely have i seen a sea bass for sale in a restaurant. I do wonder what the mystery fish in Chinese restaurants is...

I know the place I worked in long island served whole scup and sea bass, they sold amazing!!
Grilled whole scup stuffed with onions and lemon slices and served with a ponzu sauce. The fish supplier I use at work sells sea bass, not sure where it goes though. And the Portuguese market sells whole scup, pretty popluar Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Believe it or not I once found scup in a restaraunt in San Antonio back in the late 80s.It was listed on the menu as porgy so I asked the waitress what type of porgy. After speaking with the chef she said it was scup from New England.

Clammer is right, sea bass is the highest paying inshore fish. Most of it goes to really high $$$ end restaurants.

Not related to Sea Bass or Scup but I was at Daves Market in RI about 2 weeks ago and they were selling Striped Bass for 11.99 a lb. I had to stop and stare at that for a little since I didnt think SB was sold in fish markets or local stores for that matter.
I look at my 2 big fillets I got left and see $$$ lol |
Daves ,

off topic but did they figure out the bag limits on them yet. too much fun to catch, we were catching them on tinker mackeral while drifting for bass in boston harbor last year.
