The "It's On" early season large challenge begins!!!

Here's how to play:

1. Contest runs now until Memorial Day.

2. Largest shore caught striped bass takes the cake.

3. You must provide sufficient proof of your catch such as a photo and/or weight slip. Use a scale if you have it or tape measure to add credibility if you release the fish...no need to kill the fish for a silly plug.

4. Largest fish by weight will get a BB custom plug of your choice. In the event of a tie for weight, I'll go by length.

5. A special "Numbskull" prize will be awarded for the first fish entered...its got to be at least 16" though. :hee:

I tried tonight, but that 16' rule is a high bar for me.

Congrats Andy! You've claimed the 2011 "Numbskull" award...a dubious yet distinct accomplishment. :btu:

You get one of those giant checks....
problem is that the only bank that will cash it is Zimbabwe and the size of the check is too big to bring through customs and on an airplane.......
So you get a sweet new wall hanging of "what could have been".........

Good to see some bigger stuff coming in. Still haven't wet a line yet, maybe next week. In the meantime I'll brood over everyone else's success.

You gotta change your user name from Back Beach to 'Prime Time'!

First time in 4 years I haven't had a fish over 40" by may 10th in my local spots. Even the scattered 30" fish that were prevalent disappeared over the last week. Herring are few and far between. I know we get the good fish earlier down here, but I sure as heck hope to hear of more fish in this thread soon. Hopefully most released :)

Very surprising for Connecticut, and I was thinking of fishing there because of the saltwater license reciprocity figured I'd get the bigger fish earlier. I hope that isn't a prelude to what is in store for Massachusetts.

I thought it was looking good two weeks ago, but I am nervous now. My fishing is limited to a narrow area this time of year so it is not necessarily representative of other places. I do know that within the group of a dozen or so guys who fish where I do and I talk with occasionally, the results have been similar. Too early to tell, but it looks more like fall in CT which has been not so great last few years.

First Keeper Blitz action of the season. Insane action actually:buds: My thumb is ripped up, my shoulder hurts, and my feet are sore. But I can't stop smiling. Bad picture, but we didnt wanna stop catching 35-38" screamers! BTW as soon as I have money, I'm buying stock in Sebile Lure Co. On the 8ft tica and cabopt40, these fish were a blast!!

Jackbass 05-15-2011 11:31 AM

Nice fish Johnny

Released. Sorry about the focus; camera probably inadvertantly on macro setting. Tonite is May 15th, and I'm sad this 34" can even qualify at this date in your Thread at this date.

The brown trout was bigger: 15-3.

gregory2327 05-15-2011 06:38 PM

That is the biggest, fattest trout I have ever seen. That thing is absolutely absurd!! Where did you catch it?
