Worth Bringing a Rod

Without asking anyone to spot burn or do anything unethical I am taking my grandson to football camp north of Boston this weekend. I may have a little time free. I'll be in the Peabody area. Any place reasonably close to cast a few plugs? I will gladly return the favor of information to anyone who can head south.

Its always worth bringing a rod. I'd go with schoolie type tackle. Daverse River should be worth a try, but access can be tough depending on tide. You could also bring trout tackle and hit a stocked pond, like Sluice Pond.

Bill, if I wasn't already camping with my son (Cub Scouts) this weekend, I'd run up and take you fishing somewhere ;) , with gear.

Flying up or driving?

Fish are around up there, with a start of keepers.

Sorry for the delay. I was in Daytona Beach (for business...). I'm driving so I have my truck. I always bring a rod but I truly appreciate the help on which one to bring. I never know whether to bring a heaver or somethign with more finesse. The info helps make my decision.

A littel support for the local tackle store that I can find in the area (always like to keep them in business!!) and I should be able to find a little time to cast a few plugs. Taking my grandson will only add to the experience as he loves to fish!

Thanks all!

not much in the peopody/danvers area for tackle shops unless you want to drive a ways. Al's in beverly I guess is the closest, or maybe Ippie's in Lynn. Both really just have the basics, nothing too impressive IMO. You could take a drive up to surfland in Newburyport if you want to make a trip out of it. Maybe 30-40 minutes from peabody.

how old's your grandson? I know of one or two places that are pretty kid friendly for fishing close to peobody. can send you a pm if you want.

Thanks Clogston29! He is 12 so he can cast and have some fun. He isn't hard to please (the benefit from growing up near the water!). He is the typical 12 year old...if he tires, the DS comes out...

I'll take the ride. Supporting the local tackle economy is my way of thnking them for being available.
