Costa Rica fishing story!
Just got back from honeymooning in Costa Rica. Fortunately, my wife was willing to go fishing with me once again. We didn't get a chance to go for Sailfish, Marlin, Dolphin....etc because the wind was howling. I would estimate 30-50mph! We did manage to fish about 1/2 mileoffshore by Witches Island in Northern Guanacaste. We ended up trolling for roosterfish....have you ever heard of it?? We were using plugs and bucktails, with the bucktails we caught several bonitos which in turn we used to troll with for the roosterfish. We caught four of them in about an 1 1/2 hours.
The first one I caught took about 25 mins to reel in...my forearms were aching. I was expecting a huge fish, I have never worked that hard before (remember I am a fishin'rookie!) It was a decent size fish, but I dont know how it happened but I caught the fish by the tail, the line had hooked itself around the hook which acted like a noose and I pulled the fish in by it's tail. Anyways, I have a couple of pics of these fish! Is there a way I could post them here? |
Trying to post a couple of pics.....

First you have to have the image uploaded somewhere on the web. Next click help up top and go to utraboard tags and scroll down for the posting image code. Simple as long as you use the code this board supports.

Gus since you are a rookie in the picture taking dept. here are some hints on exagerating the size of the fish. 1 hold the fish forward towards the camara and extend arms (looks like you did this) 2 ALWAYS hide your fingers and thumbs! Unless you and your wife has extra large hands that pic doesnot do the fish justice. 3 try some shots from downward or upper angles. 4 LOL Great picture of a nice fish! hope you had a good time where it was nice and warm.

Hey Gus great shot, my guess would be 28lbs +, baitcaster and I are looking into a trip to the Baja, a place called Punta Colorado, exclusively fishing resort only were you can come out of the lodge in the morning and see 60lb Roosters in the surf and have at em, or do inshore and offshore boat deals, for alot of different speices, but this is the fish Baitcaster wants the ROOSTER, beautiful shot!!!! Congrads on the wedding.
