I have been busting my hump re-working a lot of things this spring that I just could not live with. Tackled many of them but still have a handful more to re-work next winter. Here are a couple items:

The engine room is starting to look like something I am proud of. Lots of new parts on this baby...Hoses, elbow, pumps, wiring, etc... Starting to look ship shape.

I built a corian counter-top (from a piece of scrap my local kitchen store had on hand, but I had to buy the under-mount sink) and removed the old "Kenmore" refrig that was in there before that kept opening up on rough days and emptying its contents on the floor. Now we have SS locking isotherm fridge/freezer and SS microwave and I put in a small one burner stove. There is also a built in deep cooler chest with drain for beverages.
It was nice having the boat next to my workshop this winter.

Splashing on Monday. ( I have been fishing from the beach to keep that addiction in check)

That's a fishing boat? Too sweet to get dirty with fish stuff now.
Very nice work!
Nice boat.

MrHunters 06-04-2011 01:10 PM

No, I don't mind fish blood on her...it gets plenty dirty but it is nice when you have to lay over someplace and the weather is crappy...take a shower and turn on the AC and relax...wake up then go fishing again.

When it comes to mechanical stuff particularly I am somewhat particular, it has to be clean, properly lubricated and up to date, it doesn't look like I did all that much but I know its right now. I have trouble sleeping knowing a part is worn and needs replacing on the engine (seriously)... hands are sore from taking so many things apart.

Time to go fishing

Chick magnet !

That engine space makes me feel funny...........Could you sprinkle a little oil in the bilge for a prop....or some belt dust or something.

One serious observation. What is with the portable fire estinguisher located INSIDE the engine box? That for the midget engineer on watch....I know you have others onboard but your not going to open the engine box to get at the extinguisher after the fire has started.....

Sandman, that is such a sweet ride. Congrats, it looks amazing.

beamie 06-05-2011 08:32 AM

Nice to see the guy who designed that boat left plenty of room around the engine to work on it, he must own a boat himself!!!!

Nice! I will be down on Thursday to check her out!!!!! (and to get the local report for a tourney I will be fishing this weekend :) )

Mr. Sandman 06-07-2011 10:22 AM

Thanks,
As for the Fire exting. mounted where it is...I was boarded (USCG) and when they were looking at the engine room they said they wanted to see an extinguisher mounted IN the engine compartment. He said it was large enough to be consider more of an engine room. If you look closely at the reg for comm fishing vessels it does say that there needs to be an extinguisher in the room.
It is kind of temporary anyway as I will be installing a small "Fireboy" (fully automatic) system in the compartment. They use a gas that instantly puts out a fire and does not make a mess like those handhelds.

look at fm-200 systems it's only 7 pct for totally suppression

Jim - Thanks again for the tour. What an awesome boat! Fishing was slow, but we did well enough to win the "Rodeo" portion of the tournament (Fluke, Striper, and Bluefish combined). Pretty snotty ride home though. 5 footers the whole way!

MarshCappa 06-13-2011 11:43 AM

:drool::drool: Beautiful!
