Spinning Reel Maintenance?
 

I just bought my first spinning reel in twenty years. It's an Emblem Pro. With my conventional reels, I disassemble and lubricate every month or so(if I like them). What do you guys do to maintain spinners?
This reel will stay out of the salt water splash game.

Stewie if your not dunking it i would break down and service your reel in the winter that would be my suggestion. Its all in how you fish it or how hard you fish it and a freshwater rinse after makes them last longer.

dude..what is the world coming to!? I bought my first spinner in a looooong time yesterday..and it was a diawa (exceller) no less! First one I've ever owned. So far I'm impressed :uhuh:

I generally smash it on some barnacles a few times a week, hit it with WD40 once a month, then rinse it off nice when it rains. Also, sand the oxidation off with 150 grit.

The world is definitely coming to an end if you and tj got spinners.

I have 2 Penn 6500 that we use for chunking and these reels get sevviced once a year whether they need it or not!!!!!!!!!!

So far no problems and they are both over 10 yrs. old,

Make sure you hold it the right way, we know how you conventional guys are.......it's supposed to hang below the rod.

same here,but i did just buy the battle 6000,also still using an olympic 540 i got when i was about 9 or 10 yrs old still brings them in no issues

That's pretty much it, as long as it ain't getting wet. Maybe take the drag washers out every month or so, clean them, light Cal's grease, and replace.

It'll start making funny noises long before the handle stops turning, I think.

wash after every trip. just a rinse as not to jam the salt in places it shouldn't be. a light spray of wd40. 2nd. week of sept. take apart and clean for the fall run.

Stewie is fishing a spinning reel ? Should have kept that 9ft Tsunami Airwave you stole from me.I put my emblem on one and it sends plugs pretty nice.

Traded that for a brandy new Daiwa Sealine conventional eleven footer.:uhuh:
