Fox?

Do foxes screech/howl?

I chased something nasty out of the front yard @5am this morning. It almost got a pellet if it didnt run away when it saw me. It had the coloration of a fox but didnt look like a fox in the low light.

Yes they do, a month ago my son thought someone was being killed in our back yard, poor kid was white as ghost when he came running into our room at 3am.

I would be more inclined to say Fisher cat, google both sounds. You just need to find one that is actually identified not a "what is this sound?"

Sounds like a cross between a crow and a little kid being beaten. Very loud

Fisher cat. They're getting more and more common around Eastern Ma.

Had the same visit twice in the last 3 weeks. Early am in the first visit with no light to decipher critter. Second visit, same screech greets us shortly after sunrise, we see a fox trying to eat my cat. Every time red fox circles in;Tiger pounces and the fox lets out a howl. Tiger could have climbed a tree but he is fearless to the point of stupid.Outdoor cat, critter killin machine Tiger is.

Definite Fox.

I got a pretty good look at the shape of it and partial coloration in the low light, fishercat is brown, this was reddish color with a white belly...fox.

Loudest thing I ever heard.

if you "want to" see them

put a red light bulb out on back porch area
even if its just on a clamp light
leave it ON [doesnt phase them]

then throw some old bread out there
they love bread!
