John, great video! I watched it a few times this weekend after seeing it posted up on the SJ site. How big was that trained fish? :)

I've been thinking about trying this. How many nights can you get out of an eel before he starts getting ripe? Thanks! and great videos btw

I used to go to Montauk for Thanksgiving weekend many many years in a row. I would always rig lots of eels cause they are deadly that time of year. Several times I caught multiple fish on the rigged eel in November then put the things back into ziplock bags and froze them. i would take them out and star catching with them again in mid to late May the following year.
One blue and its over. I find most bass spit the eel itself out after getting hooked (eel is hanging outside the mouth during the fight. Also I rig using 2 hooks and bass hooked with the tail hook are often foul hooked on the outside of the their jaw or under the chin , etc) so there is little damage ever by bass. |
Awesome video....I always have a tendency to twitch to much....good to see what a Twitch is supposed to be

Thanks for posting this John, I was wondering how to properly work a rigged eel. I never had much success with riggies, this outta help
|
Riggies were the key last night. Nothing huge, but some striped action under a BRIGHT moon was nice just the same.

I rigged one yesterday for the first time, and forgot it when i went fishing. It came out pretty good, now to see how the fish like it.
