Next Gen Plug making: Print them!

Not sure it is water proof "stuff" but can you imagine using this 3D technology?

Yes, I can imagine using it. There a couple opensource hardware projects and a few closed source projects in the works that have different levels of promise.

Look at RepRap (I have half the parts for a PRusa now) & Makerbot

I saw those years ago, we had one at my old company....a buddy of mine was a manager for the company in this area, it is located in Burlington MA. the print head basically uses superglue as its ink. it "prints" a layer in a plastic powder, shakes and lowers itself a fraction and prints the next layer building up to its final 3-D print.

it was pretty amazing....it can actually print out fully functional ball bearings that rotate.

trust me....the first time I saw it....fishing lures were the 1st thing that popped into my mind

We almost bought one of the Zcorp printers a few years ago. A plug would run about $100 cost.

They are really cool though, and yes waterproof. Foam powder is dipped in resin to harden after printing.

They said it's about $15. per sq. inch.

Someone has made a printer like this that uses a mirror and sand to make glass objects. It's 100% powered by the sun.

yeah ,that was my next question...

at what cost did the wrench have to make it?

he mentioned outer space..............

but the military has designs on it for
replicating parts that would otherwise
have to be flown in from long distances
