Unless I was loosing everything i own or was a cripple for life.. and truely could not provide for myself or my family... I'd forego the suing and deal with the pain ( as i do every day of my life, it sucks getting old).. but that is me.. lifes to short ...you never know how long you'll be on this earth, so you might as well enjoy it while you can.. obviously, you plan on fishing after the suit is settled so how bad is it.... it's none of my buisness.. you put it out there .. I'm just sayin'....

Ridiculous. Why would you not be trying to get back in shape and resume your life now? Instead you are intentionally stalling so you can cash in to the maximum?

Raven 07-15-2011 12:51 PM

there are people out there photographing

..... waiting and waiting for the money shot....

that will suggest no injury

FishermanTim 07-15-2011 03:41 PM

If the injury is legit, and can be PROVEN to be the result of the accident, and you are seeking a resonable amount of money (say for medical bills or physical therapy/treatments, then there's no problem.
BUT, on the otherhand, if you are looking for an easy payday on a "pre-existing" or "non-existing" injury, then they will find you when you aren't expecting it, doing anything you shouldn't be able to do if you truly were suffering from the injury involved in the lawsuit.

Ins. co's are buckling down on insurance fraud and will do what they can if they suspect anything shady.

Just a little FYI....

Crest Daddy 07-15-2011 05:59 PM

You seriously can't fish chunks or something that doesn't require a lot of work? Sux! Get well

emptynet 07-15-2011 07:09 PM

for the ones that are nice thank you for the post, for the other:fury:i am going after them because of 25,000 in mid bills not because i want to. You don't know me so don't judge me. For what is wrong with my back i may never be able to surf fish again.

I'm confused....

From your bio:
Just started salt water fishing and as you can see by my pix i am starting out small

The accident was in 2009. You joined this site earlier this month. But some of your posts and bio just seem to contradict what is going on.
I am truly sorry for any and all physical injuries you were left with, as well as the medical bills, (which are a pet peeve of mine...)

In any case, enjoy the site. Good folks, but sometimes it can require a thick skin. Don't worry about it. Many ways to go about fishing. You will find a few that will accomodate your limitations, even if that does not include from the surf. There's more than a few here who can't hit the beach or rocks anymore.

You really think anyone has a happy smiling great freaking life ?

Life stinks? Do a search and read what Bill Bryant and Jules are struggling through right now, then get back to us on how much your life stinks. I'd be willing to bet Bill is struggling a bit harder than you might be right now. At least you can type and read about the fishing and probably able to find some way of a different method. I know Bill sure would like to be on the water right now too.

Striped-Bass Fishing | Striper Fishing

Bill and Jules live to fish and they've done a lot for the sport. There are a lot of other folks here on this site that struggle daily too. You learn to make the best of each situation and find a way to carry on. Like Clammer says; "Enjoy what you have".

Sorry for confusing, i have been fishing my hole life most of the time fresh water. I have gone salt water fishing with my dad he had a boat for over 20 years, but I never went for stripers so i just started with surf casting. I was not looking for sympathy I was just venting about how life can suck. Don't tell me about how others have it worse because I have one child in the grave at 3 months old one in a wheelchair, a wife with epilepsy and i have had 19 sugeries from ear surgery leaving me deaf in my right ear to brain surgery twice. I have been sick my hole life! I gess by the response I got for just venting I see there are a lot of :fury::fury::fury: on this sight!!!!

This is not mindreader.com, these guys had no idea of your situation. Good luck and hope for better times in the future. I wish you the best and hope you can get out fishing soon.

Seriously, this site is a community of great people who are all here to support each other in our common goal of enjoying a fishing way of life and to share information to help get better at our craft.

I've been on here for a while but have only been very active for about a year. I have been blown away by the caring and generosity towards others in need of anything, small to major; people pitch in to help out.

THERE ARE NO HATERS HERE!!! loose the attitude and you'll be welcome, otherwise, spread your negativity elsewhere please.
:splat:

Either man up or go away. There are some of us here that have serious life threatening illnesses. Quit your bitchin' and man up.

You need help dealing with that, not pity.
Do your wife and kid a favor and go get it.
It is unlikely they want to be seen as a burden.
A jackpot lawsuit and this site are not going to result in your happiness.
Good luck.

Backbeach Jake 07-16-2011 06:59 AM

It's not the hand you're dealt, it's how you play it. I'm not here to scold. Just to advise.
Whatever you have, make it better, then make it better again. Think positively.
Positive thought takes practice. Work on it.
Negative thought is easy and feeds on itself. But most importantly is destructive. Nothing positive comes from negative thought. How can it.
Have faith in yourself and take your life into your own hands. Rehab yourself today, not later. Every day lost is a day of your life gone.
Money isn't the answer. We were given our lives, not a checkbook.
You have a seat at the table, my man, and the cards are in front of you. The game is on now. Best of luck to you.

Slipknot 07-16-2011 07:03 AM

I guess this thread may have gone better if you had put it in the grumpy old farts forum.

sorry your lower back is in pain, I know what it's like too.
14 years ago once I got the correct diagnosis, I had a lamenectomy on L-5 S-1 and the pain went away thanks to a great neuro surgeon. Once I went far enough with therapy and they gave me the OK to drive I couldn't wait to go fishing, actually got a keeper in the canal second trip, I should have stuck with the sand for a bit though.

I hate ins. companies, they make you get a lawyer these days:smash: it's rediculous

I'm sure it will get better before it gets worse

good luck

Yeah, but you're still ugly.

Sorry for your back pain.

What Clammer says and just get used to pain as it will
come as you get older no matter what you do.

There are safe execises you can do no matter how bad it is and there
is a great book by The Texas Back Institute that will get you started and
and give you relieif.

Agree on the getting more and the right kind of help. There is some good advise in this thread. And as I am finding out again, it would be wise for YOU to do what you need to better yourself and family. Get the back fixed and in time, when it is right, you can move heavier into surffishing.
