Stripers
Just because I live in Indiana doesn't mean I don't fish for Stripers.
Out here we fish for them year round. Here's a few from last week. Not huge, but not shabby. All males, to about 19 lbs. We couldn't find the cows :( |

Hey! I know that second guy, he's in the WPP! OK, just kidding...
Nice fishies, do you use the same big swimmers on them? Bernzy - how does it compare to South County? Do you get used to not smelling the salt? My in-laws live in Vegas & one of these trips I'm going to hire a guide for Lake Meade.... |
They look like some well fed bass.
Great pics. It's nice to see trees with green leaves. Looks like you've got a good head start on us. |
Really nice fish/if ours were fat as we wouldn,t have schoolie/ but wouls have alot of the {fish that got away}

Sweet, I didn't know there were stripers in that part of the country. Well I guess you learn something everyday.

EXCELLANTAHH !!!!
great lookin fish bernzy!!!! they been on a feeding frenzy. porkers for sure!!!
|
whoa, those are big fishes. they looked like hybrids to me since they came from the freshwater. i have seen some basses like yours in markets in chinatown, brenzy, but only in small size. those fishes in the markets in chinatown are either hybrids or sand basses.
neverthless, they are beautiful fishes. congratulations, brenzy. which picture is you? on the boat or on the dock? |
Mutants !!
Must be a power plant nearby. seriously---Nice FAT fish !!!! |
almost makes me want to move
|
"Hybrids" are a cross between stripers and white bass. They can't reproduce, and their bodies are naturally deeper than stripers of the same size. They always have broken stripes over a good length of their bodies, not just a break here and there.
Those are real stripers that have been piggin' out on gizzard shad or whatever forage are in those Hoosier lakes. |
WOW!!! I want me some of them. They make me look skinny:laughs:
|
:jump:
Great fish. I'll have a side order of fries and a small diet coke with that if you dont mind. |

Didn't get them on wood this time, we were live lining Alewives. Plug time is almost here Nothing compares to the salt, but catching fish like that kinda helps me pass the time between saltwater trips :D They are pure bred Stripers not Hybrids, although we have both out here. Those fish were taken from Lake Cumberland in KY which has a huge biomass of forage consisting mainly of Alewives with smaller numbers of Gizzard and Threadfin Shad. The limits on Cumberland are 2 fish per day, 24" min length. Here's another one Bernzy |
WPP - Witness Protection Program :D - Just Kidding :D
Do you need to travel far to get to these fish? Again - Schweet... We are suffering from a very late start here although things appear to be rolling now - I say appear beacuse I haven't been out in a couple weeks |
Lake Cumberland, KY.! I thought it looked familiar. Been there. Nice striper action!:D

Cumberland is about a 4 hr ride. I do have several Striper/Hybrid lakes within an hours drive. I will be hitting one of them this coming weekend. Also, I'll be tossing wood at em. :D Bernzy |
