The party of no
Most of the press is bashing the repubs on not comprmising but the Dems are doing the same thing and as always getting a free pass.
The GOP-controlled House of Representatives is set to vote Thursday on Speaker John Boehner's plan to raise the nation's debt ceiling while enacting sweeping cuts in government spending -- the latest attempt to avoid an unprecedented national default and stave off potential economic catastrophe. Some Republicans have said this will be their last, best proposal. Senate Democrats warn the plan is dead on arrival on their side of Capitol Hill even if it passes the House. "There are things that either side cannot get," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, said Thursday morning. Republicans need to "accept that and move on." |
Jimmy, Reid is opposing the Boehner bill because after all this BS we've been through the past few months would require the country to go through it all over again with another vote very soon. It's highly unlikely that the country will balance the budget in just a few years time regardless of who's in charge.
This is stupid. So far, Reid has caved on tax increases and agreed to some substantial cuts with the promise of more cuts after the debt commission findings. This is called compromise...He and Boehner need to find some common ground...and a lot of Republicans would take something very close to Reid's plan...but the Tea Party is tripping everything up with their intolerant position by denying Boehner a vote. Hint: they're the party of NO. -spence |
