Just curious what are the comm boys getting for their efforts these days? 2 bucks/3 bucks a pound?? Heard it started out at$4.99when the season began..How close to the quota are they??? is the fishing still slow off shore?Cutting through all the bull #^&#^&#^&#^&,the canal has been slow for me..someone told me there was a big bite at the ditch?? A big bite is 30-40-keepers in a tide..probably all B.S.

Do you fish commercially? If not, which I think is the case, why do you want to know or care about the quota or price?

The data on the mass link is interesting. What I found surprising is that the quota for bluefish is nearly half that of stripped bass. I was expecting the inverse.

I'd be willing to bet its because there's less of a demand for blues.
Blues have been scarce for me this year. I've caught 5 so far and they were all really big and on the same trip.

As I stated in my initial post the reason for my inquiry was"just curious".:uhuh: I really don't like to troll..pretty boring..

fishbones 08-08-2011 07:04 AM

You also stated that you needed an exact quote. If you were just curious, why did it have to be so precise ? Also, what happened to your quote in your profile?

What about the Avatar? Being a hunter, I know how hard it is to shoot one of those bastards. Put the Avatar back up, you should be proud of that pic, I know I would be.....

big jay 08-08-2011 08:48 AM

One of my checks last week was for $1.94 per - and I know of places paying less.

Stay home...

Grapenuts 08-08-2011 11:45 AM

I'll never understand why they think any price on anything will hold if THEY FLOOD THE MARKET....10 fish per day is more then enough for anyone. And I don't want to hear crap about I can't make any money with that.

thefishingfreak 08-08-2011 12:37 PM

I got 2.85 Sunday in Boston

"YOU ****** UP

Herein a quote from some big ornery red headed guy I was talking to on the Canal last week (after he interestingly finished releasing a 20 ish lb. striper)...

"If you absolutely feel you have to sell a striped bass to make ends meet, then you screwed up..." I believe he is correct. The MA Commercial Striped Bass season is a political sop to fund your recreation abusing a valuable public resource. So, go ahead and sell your fish at less than $3.00 a pound to the fish buyers and the Industry who are your pimps.

At market prices of $15-17/lb. in the fish markets, this Industry isn't doing anything utilitarian (defn: the greatest good for the greatest number) for the "common man".

I fail to see how we're pimps. If you don't like the price don't fish. I can't be bothered to buy the fish when I'm selling for less than $4.

I'm not going to kill myself for no money.

thefishingfreak 08-09-2011 12:43 PM

Unless marine fisheries is sending out joke emails, consider it closed after wednesday.
