Surf Fishing Hawaii Style

This is from my buddy Mark White who lives on Koloa.

Howd you like to fish this every day :uhuh:

‪The Agony & Ecstacy‬‏ - YouTube

He sent me another today of how he gets to this spot...by climbing down about 150' of cliff...The video starts at the top and goes to the point he's standing at. Unfortunately I can't show that video to you yet because it's got something under development on it but maybe this winter :hee:

Finaddict 08-07-2011 06:26 PM

Did he tell what that fish is? It's pretty sick.

UserRemoved1 08-07-2011 06:29 PM

That is a Ulua...Giant Trevally

See the size of that thing :hee:

I really want to show this other video. I'll see if I can edit the lures out.

You would have a boner.

PRBuzz 08-07-2011 06:33 PM

WOW, the way the fish followed the lure in and he was able to tease it to bite right at the waters edge....fantastic!

Finaddict 08-07-2011 06:38 PM

I have not fished for GT yet, but every thing i have seen about them is that they are a sick fish to catch ... they are a cousin to jack crevalle I believe, and i have had my share of those down in Fla when I lived down there ... GT are jacks on steroids ... would love to go for them.

Here's another...tagged and released. These go pro cameras are neat.

Thats what I want to show you on this other video. He leads the fish all over about 10 times back and forth. He never went away.

If any of you guys are interested in Mark's lures I can have him send me an assortment of different sizes. They are indestructible, capable of shattering concrete.

Finaddict 08-07-2011 06:49 PM

It's sick ... but why wouldn't he just fish from the point he released the fish from ... seems like it would be easier ... unless he couldn't get the distance to the white water he is able to from the cliff ... great stuff.

Stripersurg 08-07-2011 10:07 PM

That is some awesome fishing.

UserRemoved1 08-08-2011 03:56 AM

Finaddict I think that's where the reef/bar is that all the fish are on.

I still want some of Marks poppers.

That stuff is rad.

I have a whole bunch at the house Ted. I'd you want specific colors then pick them out and I'll get them for you

AWESOME video, probably the best surfcasting video I've seen...

I saw a few of them while snorkeling in Hawaii, I bought a cheap combo while I was there and tried for them with a yozuri popper with no luck, didn't really have time for a shore charter, there was one on the island that took you over night (this was Maui).

Unreal stuff, I'm just amazed that he was able to gaff it like that...
