Finally decided to take the plunge and bought myself a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera. Best decision I've made yet! The difference in the quality is indescribable.

there's a special time of day
half in the morning- half in the evening when the sun is low and the colors change to an almost irredecesant glow... it only lasts for like ten minutes... |
Very nice pics, great camera. Keep'em coming....

Thanks :)

I've been shooting with a D5000 for about 2 years. It's a great camera...if you haven't bought an extra battery then get one. If you haven't bought a bag, the Crumpler Four Million Dollar Home will fit the camera with a lens, an extra lens and a few accessories perfectly. It's not that expensive and you can get them on Ebay.
Unless you're shooting movies, a 4GB card will hold a lot of photos. Here are a few pics from the Franklin Park Zoo this week. -spence |
Definitely a more pro level camera. Now you need a 50 mm f/1.4 lens. :)

I was thinking for portraits, the facial features are outstanding at the low f stop.

He never looked so good! :)

Spence: are you hand holding or using a tri/monopod?

For a camera under a grand with two lenses it's a damn good unit. Katie, take LOTS of photos :hihi: Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

:D I do a lot of portraits. Thanks for the suggestion on the bag, I've been using this older Minolta bag I have from an old 35mm film camera that I have. I have a 4gig card in it already, and for right now it's okay. But within the next week or so I'll be purchasing a bigger one.
First 2 are taken with the D5000, 3rd is with my other old faithful camera. |
